Honestly, I'm not all that worried about losing a saved game. Fallout is a great game and I'll look past having to play it for another 10 hours to get back to where I was...I was going to do it anyways eventually. What I'm concerned about is if after I do this, I get the same damn bug, I'm going to be furious! I need to know that it's gone.

sorry about triple posting, but just shooting from the hip...would the "R. bumper+ L. Bumper+ X " cache clear fix this, not by the Box right now, so if someone has, or can try this??

People have tried Installing to The HDD,Clearing The Cache, and Restarting their game.
In the end they all still get or have the bug.

ah, i didn't think about boone being a common factor, perhaps he is the factor of why some people are able to get by, and other's arn't, i had boone as my companion, also, @Angry Koltova, excellent job on finding the exact spot, collaboration from others would help, also testing boone as a companion would help to detemine if he's the exact factor

i've restarted my game(which gave me an opputunity to change a few things i'd wish i had done originally now that i've had a chance to play), i'm just getting past primm, so i'm still several hours away from getting back to the spot, but when i do, i'll do extensive testing to see if i can concur with Angry Koltova's findings, and test if boone is a factor, as well as the space suit.

i won't be their till tommorow however, so i should have more info on my findings tommorow, about this time, however, this doesn't mean that this is the only place this bug occurs, but knowing even one place to avoid until a patch is a plus.

So apparently they are working on this bug as we speak. This game is a personal favorite of mine for the past 2 days. So I understand why everyone is crazed about this.

They need to fix this as fast as possible. Not only that the weekend is soon arriving, all the hardcoe gamers I know are having to restart their games, losing hours in gameplay. Supposedly its is a bug with either entering the strip or having the space suit from the space station with the ghouls.

I think the saves will be fixable. They are not actually corrupted.

I am afriad to even play because I do not want to run into this damn bug. A fix for this should of been out 24 hours after it was found. This needs a fix ASAP. This is game breaking!!

But we are still waiting for the damn date to be announced... So we're all boned. Prob 2 weeks till fix.

I think in this case, "some news" would be better than "no news". I just want to hear how long it will take, 1 day, 2 weeks, a month, or whatever. Just so Im not waiting....

I'm having the exact same problem. Like someone else mentioned earlier, it started during the 'Come Fly With Me' quest, right before I was about to talk to Harland. I also did not pick up the space suit. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed because I was really enjoying this game up until this point.

I love how people keep saying it's with the space suit, when it's not. It is within that quest, though, or the strip, I havent made it to the strip yet so I'm not sure. I did get back to the quest and completed it without receiving the bug again. I'm not sure what I did differently, maybe did less dialogue with jason bright, but thats it. Picked up the same weapons and stuff and didnt even see the space suit (didnt look for it either). Maybe it is something with jason bright, I'm not sure but I did a lot of investigating and couldn't make the bug happen again.

I can't wait till they get this fixed, I'm saving after every major mission, then shutting my xbox off and turning it on again to load up my save. Just so I can make sure it didn't get bugged. There is no reason this should have to happen when you pay money for a game.

Most likely, but if the save files are corrupted how are they going to fix that? They can surely fix the issues that caused the corruption to begin with, but how are they going to fix those saves when they can't be accessed because they are corrupt?



I've put in about 21 hours and I'd say I've had Boone as my companion for the majority of those hours. So far I've not had any issues other than minor ones that aren't impeding my progress, but rather making it a little frustrating. So I don't think Boone is the culprit. He may be a piece of a large puzzle like Boone + Repconn Space Suit + leaving at night instead of during the day + getting triggers before fuel = corruption.

FYI I'm playing on a 360 arcade with 20GB HDD.

I finished "Come Fly With Me" and have done a lot on the strip with the exclusion of entering Ultra-Luxe or Gomorrah.

The devs posted some news. Same as before - love for the PC now with two patches but so far none for the 360. At least they mentioned the 360 save issue.

I'm just getting really frustrated. I waited over a year for this game and when the time comes to play it, I can't. I don't want to revert back to an old save until a patch comes out because what if I just get a corrupted save again? Ugh, and plus the weekend is coming up. This just svcks. Come on Bethesda, do something for your 360 fanbase. Help us out so our weekends aren't devoid of fallout.

This happened to me aswell but very randomly. i was abot to go to the gym when i was at gun runners and decided to save before i purchased anything. so i purchased a light machine gun and went on an rampage thrpought the gun runners headquarters as i tried to go to my last save it said i have no dlc and i am really pissed. they better fix this so i dont gotta restart the campaign over again.. or atleast restart my last 6 hours.. and i really dont wanna go in vault 3 or 11 again they scare me and i leave brown chunks in my pants when i go in those vaults.

Spoilers included in my description:
I have repeated this bug twice now, both times involve the end of "Come Fly with Me" after turning in the 2nd item to Chris for the spaceship. After turning both items required for the spaceship, the next objective in the quest is to go to the observation platform. Here are some things that I thought of where trying to best describe the bug

Similarties between both bugs
- Informing Chris on the ghouls' plan to not take him with on the Great Journey
- Telling/convincing Chris to go live with humans in Novac
- Telling/convincing Chris to help the ghouls and not to sabotage the spaceship
- Space suit and space helmet in inventory: Not equiped, however in inventory each time
- No companion
- Good karma
- No downloadable content
*Important* - Never exploring the strip to the north (no farther north than the starting town), never going east past the test facility where the quest takes place besides the locations of the 2 items needed for the quest

Differences between the two times this I've had this bug
- The location where you save does not seem to matter after the two items are turned in to Chris.
Places I've saved and could not load later: Inside the basemant, in the sewer where Chris is located, outside of the room where Chris is located, outside above the sewers using the ladder located in the seweres (time of day does not matter, neither day nor night work), fast travel to any location I've tried so far do not work because the save will still not load.
- Going to the observation v.s. not going, both still cause the bug and will still result in the bug


Hypothesis
This particular save bug is either related to the space suit, "Come Fly with Me", or a combination of the two.

Needing testing:
- A save file next to the space suit before talking to Chris about materials needed
1) Save a file before the space suit is picked up
2) Attempt to load it: if it works, make a new save,
3) Pick up the space suit, save on DIFFERENT SAVE and attempt to load.

- Save(s) during the quest "Come Fly with Me" with NO SPACESUIT/HELMET
1) Never pick up the spacesuit/helmet and finish the quest using other the saves so your main files aren't corrupted

By eliminating variables and coming up with solid evidence people can avoid this particular bug until a patch is released. *End bug dicussion*
Clearing cache, resetting xbox, copying files to a different memory device, or playing on different xboxes do not solve "cannot load" issue

Also, when/if a patch comes out, I highly doubt they will be able to salvage your save because these saves probably dont save all specific items, rather save everything together considering the save files are ~7mb's on my hdd (just a guess); plan on starting from scratch or returning the game if you dont want to reinvest 5.5+ hours of time (~12 hours for the guy in the other dorm, 8 hours for me when it first happened)

So I see this is not just me...

I've had a few glitches and errors in need of a reload. To be blatantly honest, I was not even slightly concerned about them. The game is inherently quirky, and deals with millions of objects in a massive sandbox. Crappy "mob stuck in rocks" and "my loot fell through the ground" issues are just petty and not worth worrying about.

Errors that break quests, or make NPC's do stupid things, or get stuck and/or disappear, now these errors are problems that need fixing, as they massively detract from gameplay.

I can accept the above, [censored] happens.. Platforms work differently etc etc etc.

But a completely broken game, with no recourse, saves all broken, and for most of us it seems that we have put 15-30 hours of gameplay in before this happens??
This is a serious issue that needs immediate redress. The fact that it is across multiple platforms leads me to think that it's a real issue, not just a "whoops, we made a small boo-boo with x piece of code".

I am now not playing at all. What's the point?
I don't want to start again. I don't want to risk it breaking again.
I now have $150 au of CE sitting here, and the only good thing about it is that I got a deck of cards to play solitaire with until Bethesda fix a broken game.

P.S. I see people posting about "the devs said xx" etc.. where are you getting this information?

Check the BethBlog for news about the patches. Apparently they're needing to fix a ton of things on the PC version due to weird graphics card interactions and stuff like that. As for this glitch, they have at least acknowledged it exists and working on it.

Just as an aside.. although the game has issues, the forums work fine.

I noticed that the comment made by Bethesda was "we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games".

It takes less than one minute to sign up and post that you are having the same issue as everyone here, and lets make them realize that this is not a "small group".

Unless there a a lot of forum trolls about, this page has had a lot of people looking at it, so take the time to post please.

With no multi-player it's a pointless bet, but I'd like a vote on how many caps you want to bet for a time/date you think we may be able to play again, and whether we have to restart or can still use our save files.

Me , I got 10,000 caps that say it won't be fixed until Monday and our current saves are gone...

Yeah I just got slammed by this bug and it also claimed 2 manual save slots and auto-save all in one blow. The thing that is ridiculous is that this IS game breaking just like the title suggests and yet all we have gotten so far is "we are looking at it". So glad to find out I just lost 14 hours of gameplay and all we have is "we are looking at it" and a patch could be weeks away....

I think i gotta agree with you on this...looks like I won't be playing any more Fallout until the patch comes out at least. Im not gonna start another game get 14 hours into it again and get slammed by the same bug again.

Just got this bug a few hours ago. Not starting over for the 3rd time. First two times I got hit with the frozen black screen after changing areas with corrupt auto save and made the mistake of not saving often. This time I was saving every five minutes or so, got pretty far into the game just for this to happen with it not wanting to load. Hopefully a patch will come before the weekend. Otherwise I'm just waiting for Fable 3 to come out and play that before I touch Fallout New Vegas again.

I have just starting going through this SAME thing right now as you read this. I hope it can be fixed because like you and everyone else, I was REALLY getting into it. I played it all morning today and the game was working beautifully! But, I started it up 45 minutes ago and for that entire time, the game will not let me load past the loading screen, I was getting the SAME messages you were about the custom contents being relics and was no longer available as well as my save storage not being available.

This is frustrating to me as I paid a lot of money for this game. I had no expectations of this game and was enjoying ever second of it until this. I have never experienced something like this in the year and 8 months that I have had my elite xbox. I DO NOT want to start this game over again. I will be honest with you on that. I have tracked a lot of miles in this game and I really don't want to have to face them again. I just don't.... :sadvaultboy:

@Vrez1984: Yes, thank God in the glorious heavens that I had the foresight to preorder Fable 3. I will be playing that as soon as word gets out for a patch for New Vegas because I really want to PLAY this game. I am loving it too much to be suffering from a loss (A FINANCIAL LOSS, at that!) like this.

Would like to comment though that upon reading some of the other posts in this thread that my saves come corrupted ~10-20 min after completing "Come fly with me" and I did have the space suit either on me or in one of my companions inventory. Had gone to the gift shop in Novac (after taking out the person for Boone) and had an option to tell the gift shop guy (name slips my mind atm) that i killed them, decided to reload auto-save and then save right before talking to him to see what his response would be and bam....dlc corruption. Could also be why not every 360 player is experiencing this bug....not everyone might be grabbing the space suit...at no point are you required to have it to complete the quest so people might either not see it, not want it, or not have space for it.

Yep! I had planned on at least trying to get one full run through before Fable 3 came out. That way when I have gone through a run on that, I can come back to FNV. I was really loving this game until I hit the Strip and the lagging started to occur. Then I just installed the game to my HDD and cleaned the cache which helped out a LOT. I was just finishing the Talent Pool quest at lvl 13 with roughly 20k of caps... hate to start all over. But maybe by the time I'm done with Fable 3, they will have fixed this game with some patches then I more likely won't mind as much about starting a fresh run if I have to.

Ya know I think the biggest problem from all of these bugs is that if/when "Fallout 4" comes out 3/4 of the people won't want to buy it right away if it is made/produced by Bethesda due to both FO3 and now F:NV have swarms of bugs, many being game breaking crashes, save file corruptions etc. I know I won't be pre-ordering another Fallout done by Bethesda until I see a patch come out first.

I agree! I haven't gotten THAT far into the game, but I am quite far in it. I haven't even gotten to the strip yet. I went a totally different direction. But, I am still a pretty good ways, so I hate that this occurred. I always save my games to my HDD, but I just cleared my caches and just now started the game up. I hope that helps...I really do. I plan to keep on coming back to this thread and these threads to see when the patch will be released. Until then, here's looking towards Fable 3...!
