Xbox 360 vs. PC

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:16 am

I've already got Oblivion on my Xbox, but I've been looking up some mods and a lot are really awesome. What's your opinion on each. Please only write something if you have both, I don't want biased opinions. Also, half of the reason I originally chose my Xbox is because I like the controls better. Is there a way to play on my computer (we have an xp and a vista) using my Xbox controller?

Vs threads usually get locked but to answer your question the PC is the over all best gaming unit and yes you can play with your xbox controller but I don't recommend it.

I have OB for PS3 and PC, I like them both evenly. You should still get the PC version.

Personally I enjoy PC better. Mods, better stability, better graphics and smoother gameplay are some of my favorite things.

Ok, how can I hook up my Xbox Controller? If you can point me to a site/thread I'd be very grateful. Also, why don't you like it?

If you have a wired controller you can plug it into the USP slot on the computer the reason I don't like it is because it's way slower and more complicated the the key board and mouse.

Personally prefer the PC version.

I've played both the 360 and PC versions, and the PC version just feels more natural.

PC also boasts better graphics and supports mods. Mods made Oblivion go from a really good game into one of the best games I've ever played. Unique Landscapes, Qarl's Texture Pack3, OBGEv2, the unofficial patch... and countless others made Oblivion what it is imo.

It's more than simply you computer it rely's on many factors of the computer but usually even lower grade computers run games better than consoles.

So far PC looks cool but it has a lot of bugs for me (don't know if its because I am on Windows 7 or not) so I would have to say at this moment Xbox 360, but mods should be great for computer.

The mods alone make the PC version better. Graphically the game will look better as well with a good enough PC. And of course, the bug fixes that X360 does not get...such as the *cough* A-BOMB *cough*

Current
Processor: AMD Phenom 2 720 x3 OC'd at 3.2 GHz (stock is 2.8)
Video Card: NVidia Geforce GTX 470
RAM: 4 GB DDR2. Forgot the speed. Somewhere between 600MHz and 800MHz iirc.
HDD: Western Digital 1 TB. Can't remember the specs.
S'about all that's worth mentioning. Runs the game without lag with several graphics enhancing mods at a resolution of 1280x1024. Occasional stutter when loading new areas.

Edit: Like Starforce9, I built this one myself.

I used to run Oblivion on this setup:

Processor: AMD Athlon64 3500+ (2.2GHz)
Video Card: ATI Radeon x1600
RAM: 1 GB DDR2. Never found out it's clock speed.
HDD: Some 200GB harddrive.

That would run the game perfectly on medium with resolution 1024x768. Could also run it on high, but it lagged alot in the wilderness, especially in forests.
