I got to the point where game has become unplayable. I cannot enter New Vegas Strip anymore - any attempt results in total freeze of Xbox, nothing helps but turning it off. On turning on it will report corrupted save.
It happens when I try to enter the strip from Freeside. As I go through normal gate entrance routine (saving/loading wait) the screen goes black, no buttons work (even general Xbox button). Tried to enter through monorail - game freezes when I try to buy NCR outfit from Contreras, on exit from buy sequence (screen shows frozen picture with Contreras in NCR supply shack). Got outfit other way, entered through monorail, game crashed when I got closer to gate (same lockup). Next time I went fast towards gate, got through it, was on the strip! Turned around to look and game died (freeze). After that does it on every restart.
Went to back saves, trying to find spot where I can resume. After going 3 levels back (from level 19 to 16), right to spot where I checked Benny's suite after shooting him, game worked. I finished Debt collector by shooting bounty hunter (Caleb McCaffery), sold stuff to Old Lady Gibson and tried to return to Strip - freeze...
I think I try it in about 3 months, when most patches are out and I forgotten my aggravation.
I seriously hope that somebody from Bethesda reads this.

This must be a major bug. I'm having the same problem. The strip is unreachable for me. I really hope they fix this soon.

Coincidentally enough, looks like the location crash that we are experiencing also started right after I killed Mcaffrey on the strip. Prior to that, I wasn't having any problems.

Killing Caleb during the debt collector quest will crash your game if you try to enter the strip afterwards. I went through the quest multiple times and the only way I could finish the quest without having the crash upon entering was by getting him to just give me that hat and letting him live.

Hope you have a save from before or during the quest.

After reaching level 19 I am no longer able to enter the Strip. The last quest I completed was obtaining the schematics from the Gun Runners for the Caravaan Trading company.

Did you finish the debt collector quest?

I have the problem too. Strip won't load after killing Caleb McCaffery. The game is unplayable now and I am furious. I am stuck in the 38! And I don't have the stupid hat anymore either. I don't want to restart.
