Is there going to be a mandatory update for the 360 to play Skyrim? I'm in the Middle East for a few months, but the only way I can think of to get such an update would be to have a friend DL it at home and mail me a disc.

I don't believe so. The 360 is getting a dashboard overhaul sometime this fall, but I don't see why you couldn't still play games that come out afterwards with the old dashboard.

As for updates relating specifically for Skyrim, no, those are never mandatory.

Nope, one game did that and it caused alot of issues as there are many non internet connected console players. Tons more then on comp.

But you wont get any bug fixes :shrug:

You might need an update to download DLC sometime down the road, but certainly not to play the vanilla game.

thanks for asking this. My ISP's been a butt recently and I was really concerned, too. Cause I can't play my Oblivion DLC from the GOTY edition without logging in, which I can't do right now.

I got the update yesterday so thats about it. Now if they make a postrelease patch for skyrim than yes an
update will be required. New Vegas anyone? Remember playing the game at launch? :cryvaultboy:

Even if theres a release day patch unless youre already connected to Live I dont see how your game would know it needs to be updated.
