Xbox 360 - Worth Picking Up Brink Again?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:52 pm

I bought Brink the day it came out, and the actual "gameplay" I really enjoyed. The problem was (as I'm sure many of you are aware) that whenever I tried to play online, I literally couldn't even move of my own accord. If I moved forwards even slightly, my character would start lagging all over the place and doing things I didn't want him to do.

I then waited until there was a patch (which was supposed to have fixed the problem, by putting less human players into a match with you) but unfortunately for "me" it didn't.

I know for a fact it's not my connection, as I can play Crysis 2, Black Ops, and many other games online lag free.

Anyway... I traded in Brink and got Black Ops. Unfortunately the gameplay just wasn't right for me (too fast paced) and I didn't enjoy it. That's not to say it's a bad game, I just personally didn't like it.

So I'm basically on the lookout for a new game, and was wondering if the problems with Brink have been sorted out yet. Do you guys think it'd be worth re-buying Brink or should I just go with another game (LA Noire perhaps)?

Thanks.

There's a patch coming sometime this week to fix lag issues for the 360 and PS3.

LA Noire is pretty sweet. Don't give up on BRINK yet. Read the post from Gstaff regarding the update. The whole 4 players/team was stated as a temporary fix until they are able to release the official update. According to Splash Damage, this update has been approved by MS and will hit sometime this week. Also free DLC coming in June. Supposedly the update this week will fix the lag issue.

If you're still hesitant, wait to see what people on the boards are saying after the official update is done. I too have been experiencing lag off and on...sometimes none, other times absolutely ridiculous amounts of lag. Even though everyone in the game has a "green bar" connection, it still lags. The official patch update is supposed to hit this week and will fix it. Hopefully the update delivers on its promise because I'm gonna get sick of this game really quick if it doesn't. I have faith that Splash is doing everything they can to fix the problem, so I'm hanging on. I'm also curious to see what the free DLC will have to offer.

Either way you go...LA Noire is an awesome game, but I wouldn't give up on Brink just yet.

I have been playing all day on xbox with no lag, it usually starts out laggy when you enter a game for 10 seconds while it loads everything up but then it's gone but you usually spend that time running to your teammates. The games are played 4v4 with 4 bots on each side now, you can choose big teams which is like launch but it will be laggier... this was a small fix until they could iron it out for good in a later patch. I hear there is a balancing/lag patch in the works to balance the game out and free DLC due in june. If you like playing the 5v5 competetive, it doesn't seem to lag and its all humans usually... and you get to play like the guys in the tourney too.

Either way, if you liked the game it was a bad idea to sell it just because of launch day lag and imbalances, games are not the one and done of the past... content patches and dlc are the norm now like it or not.

It's worth it if you are willing to leave a game the moment it starts lagging because that's what I have been doing. There is bound to be one host who is lag free.

I usually play on the competition game settings in Freeplay. I find this to be the least laggy yet its not the 8v8 experience sadly. Though I do enjoy the game (360) its been apparent that the replay value is questionable. Free DLC coming in June should solve this for a bit (considering its good)

LA Noire is good, but its kind of boring... Bad Company 2 is a great shooter, but its almost 1.5 yrs old, so there are times that its kind of dead. I would have kept brink if I were you.. I facepalmed when you said you got rid of it for Black ops.. That game is terrible.. but hey we all make mistakes..

I guess wait till they release the patch this week and see what happens, then get it if the news is good. Ive been playing the 5v5 with virtually no lag for the last week and a half.

You should have never traded it in, and you should have kept an eye out for the announced patch (coming to you for console this week). Yes, you should go re-buy it and next time have a little patience (that or start to game on a PC :) )
