xbox 720 slated for realease by 2013

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2010 4:32 pm

the 360 one in that pic just looks darker like they have a svcky tv maybe. besides computers just playing on a little monitor instead of a giant nice tv.

HDMI cables are your friend. Resolutions matter as well. The 360 only has ~1200x700.

You do know I use to play Crysis 1 on my 42' LG 1080p TV and it beats anything my PS3 can run including GT5 due to 99% of the console games not even going above 720p

no its not, you only think it is because you never played a good graphics game due to playing on a console

Uh, :slap:
no good graphics on 360 lol. maybe your thinking of ps3.

ditto :slap:

Is this going somewhere or is it just platform bashing? Yes, some of you have nice gaming PCs. That doesn't mean console games don't look good, otherwise your definition of good is just too high. No, the 360 is not more powerful than a good modern gaming PC. Neither is a PS3. No, a 360 is no more powerful than a PS3. The PS3's CPU, disk format, and guaranteed hard drive are superior to their 360 counterparts and the 360's GPU is more powerful than the PS3's and its RAM, although of the same total amount, is more flexible. The PS3 has a bit more peak performance, but achieving its peak performance is more difficult than it is with the 360 due to difficult to a difficult to program for hardware. Most people likely don't have computers better than either, but a good gaming PC can very easily outdo both. Gaming PCs ARE more expensive, hence they have better hardware. No, putting one together is not a reflex for all of us. No, if you haven't played a certain platform, you don't know what it's capable of. No, nobody is wrong in their preferences.

360 has an equivalent to a 7300 video card which isn't even supported in PC games these days.. your getting 30fps on low res and games use "Smart Lighthing" to hide and you sitting 5 meters from the TV resulting in less blantant jaggies.. 360 and PS3 has DX9 not 10 or 11 which are a huge leap in terms of graphics. Did you even view the two videos I posted how can you say those do not explain what anyone with a 8th grade education should know.

The PS3 doesn't even utilize DX, actually...

PS3s cost more because they are more expensive to make. They are more expensive to make because they, by default, all come with hard drives and Blu-Ray drives. Gaming PCs cost more than both, even if building one's own (although it does cut prices significantly). Gaming PCs will have nicer hardware than both of the other platforms.

2 minutes long..

upscaling to 1080p is not running at 1080p which is what every game on 360 does.

I'd rather play on a nice 24" with 60fps 1080p better gfx than a 50" with 25fps 700p less effects worse gfx any day of the week.

Gladly I can get best of both worlds with my HDMI/DVI cables. I don't do it since I prefer the FOV and Immersion of monitors.

the 360 supports 1080p but the games mostly only support 720p. Also you can run hdmi cables from a pc to a tv and get higher def.

720p is real high definition. 1080p is just higher.

Does it use OpenGL, or something created by Sony?

I've heard both, so I'l trust Wikipedia, for now:

"The 3D computer graphics API software used in the PlayStation 3 is LibGCM and PSGL, based on OpenGL ES and Nvidia's CG.[2] The PlayStation 3 uses the XrossMediaBar (XMB) as its graphical user interface."

Not gunna happen, they have invested WAY to much time and money to delay this for another 2-3 years, definitely wont happen. TES6 will probably be new gen consoles though.

okay so that video looks sick but the comp probably cost like $5000 to look like that right? besides computers from now can do better graphics then xbox but it's like 5 years old. so the 720 will be new and should have better graphics when it's out. also what do you mean it doesn't do 1080p it's hd dude I've hooked it up to the 1080p tv and I've played on other peoples's 1080p tv's and it looks totally sick.

no that computer would cost like $800. ~$200 if you have a PC already. There is no reason to buy a PC more then $1500 because everything and anything will run on max today with a $1k PC

even itf it's $1000 not $5000 a 360 is only like $300 so that's kind of crazy even if it can look better sometimes.
