xbox 720 slated for realease by 2013

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2010 3:17 am

not really.. since games on PC are $10 less and Steam sells 20 games for $50-70 on deals and new consoles if done correctly will be $400-700 (with somewhat up to date tech). You will be paying for better quality gaming and since every family has some type of computer today to use for communication/entertainment you would actually be saving money in the long run.

The issue with that is people go to retailers and see the $1300 price tags in Best Buy/Dell/Wal-mart and assume thats the best price they will get, but if you buy off amazon or new egg you will save over $600 on a PC with the same specs.

but maybe those games are cheap cuz there not good. like computer doesn't have some great games like Halo and COD and Fable so maybe that's why it's cheaper or there used.

also what do you mean it doesn't do 1080p it's hd dude I've hooked it up to the 1080p tv and I've played on other peoples's 1080p tv's and it looks totally sick.

The xbox itself can put out 1080p but only if the games support it. Which most don't. (I say most because I don't know for sure if all don't but I haven't heard of any that do) It doesn't matter if your TV is 1080p if the game is only 720p, it just upscales it (still looks good though)

btw CoD is indeed on PC and so is fable and fable 3 is coming to PC too just sayin.

The computer has every game that you just named off besides Fable 2 and the more recent halos.

So much misinformation here.
1) Both consoles (PS3/360) have nearly the same GPU. (power wise atleast) About equivalent to a Nvidia 7800GTX.
2) Neither console actually renders games at 1080p. It is usually even less then 720p.
3) When comparing TV's to monitors a lot comes into play. Resolution is important and size doesnt matter. (Though all [new]TVs are either usually 1280x720 or 1920x1080.) When you have a larger TV and sit close to it it will look worse then a smaller TV with the same resolution. Pixel density matters.
4) You can build a PC that can run almost all games near max for under $800. Plus a PC can do so much more then just play games.

As to the OP's question, I prefer it to be released now.....since I play on PC and dont really care for consoles.

Halo 2 available for PC every COD available for PC Fable series available for PC.. the reason why they are cheaper is because no one makes money off PC parts. Sony and MS low sell their consoles they need that extra charge to cover that.

There are better games on PC if you ask me.. but then it just goes to a platform war... but a few examples
Battlefield
Red Orchestra
Spore
Sims Series
Gothic Series
Arma
MMORPGs
Minecraft
Planetside (FPS with 200vs200vs200 battles)
list goes on

Basically you get what you pay for whether you go for a console or a PC. You pay more for a (gaming) PC because it's generally higher quality hardware and can do much more than a console.

ya. and with a PC you can upgrade if needed for example I can buy a PC today, when consoles release (hopefully) will be equivilant to it. But the year or two after I can drop $200 on a new GPU and have a better machine

I don't know what those other games are though. but I'm not trying to have a war just talking and do you know what upscaling is then?

I am not too exited for it since only SP has been show E3 and beta will draw my attention I am more exited of RO2 however the gameplay vids of that are spectacular

Bad Company is on consoles Battlefield games have 64 (256 in PR mod) all the console BF knock offs only hae 24. Minecraft actually looks good texture packs of it make it look very good but if oyu just look at the default TP then ya it looks bad.

Upscaling is pretty much making everything bigger 9/10 it makes look worse if it was at default. It doesn't utilize what full 1080p can use just mask it.

Gothic 1-3 are PC exclusives Gothic 4 AKA ArnaiA 4 is the worst one in the series very linear closed cells. Sim Series on PC is more free will. For example you can walk across the street in Sims 3 on PC but on consoles you have to hire a cab and select a destination. PC games usually have 75% more features if not more

Skyrim is already done, and done for 360. It would really make very little sense to hold it back, enraging many fans who have already gotten terribly excited for it, just to release a last gen game on the new gaming console a year and a half to two years from now. As someone else alluded, they could just as easily finish all the last tweaks to Skyrim, release it on schedule, and start conceptual work for Elder Scrolls VI: Summerset Isles :tops:

no I don't think it should be in Summersets but in Akaviri where there's dragons and stuff that would be so epic I think.

Won't happen. We have yet to see all of Tamriel yet (excluding Arena).

An update on the topic says this is some booty and I thought it was the moment I saw it. Technology is kinda peaked for quite a while right now. We can at best get some slight graphical upgrades, a bit more ram, maybe a higher resolution. Its absolutly not worth another 400 dollar investment. Really debating it is kinda pointless anyways, a new xbox or playstation wont come out for quite some time

It's entirely possible unless you have top secret insider information that says otherwise. Who says we have to visit all of tamriel first?
Personally I would rather they leave it shrouded in mystery it's just better that way same with the mystery of the dwemer.

Well... I'd imagine we'd get at least one of the beast provinces and sumemrset isles/valenwood before we leave Tamriel.

If you can't afford a new console after having ~8 or so years to save, then you have WAY BIGGER priorities than trying to afford a video game. If you saved $10+ a month since the 360 came out, you'd be set. It's a hobby, and it costs money to fund. svck it up buttercup.

I would bet money that this person lives with their parents and doesn't pay a dime for gaming consoles.

I would bet you're wrong. I am 20 years old, live with two of my friends and am working my way through college.

What I said was absolutely true. If you DID save $10+ a month for the years in between console release, that'd be enough to purchase the next one. And if peope can't afford to put back even $10 a month to fund a video gaming hobby, then they DO have higher priorites.
