xbox 720 slated for realease by 2013

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:38 am

Holy crap! My bad, I thought we were talking about the next Elder Scrolls game! If we are talking about skyrim, then no, I think that would be stupid to reconfigure a game that is already set to be released on the 360. I do think that it would be a great idea to make the next game on the next gen consoles.

Hopefully they have no choice as it will be (the PS4/720 that is) the modern standard for console gaming.

Seems a bit funny to me that this gets leaked shortly after the Project Cafe rumors...

Indeed it is.

I more or less expected it though. Someone had to force this news out at some point.

If you can't afford a new console after having ~8 or so years to save, then you have WAY BIGGER priorities than trying to afford a video game. If you saved $10+ a month since the 360 came out, you'd be set. It's a hobby, and it costs money to fund. svck it up buttercup.

I highly doubt you ever had a xbox 360 then, from all the people i know who brought a 360 on its release date (included me) have either had to shell out on multiple repair costs/ replacement consoles or have brought one of the upgrades. And you must consider that some people like to prioritize other things over gaming in there lives. And to the op, no, it would be stupid and messy to have to delay skyrim for at least a year just to accommodate small graphical improvements or better framerate or whatever the PC massive like to bang on about.

Financially it would be the worst move possible for Bethesda. Microsoft would have to pay heavily to have them delay the game to release it on the next Xbox.

That is why I said... you have BIGGER priorities in the statement you quoted.

This benefits Sony more than anybody. They can see what specs Nintendo and Microsoft are playing with and really take advantage with this for the PS4.

Microsoft named it 360 because they said since it does games, music and movies the system comes full circle and is a complete entertainment product.

Consider that the Developer kits for the new Console wouldn't have even been available until about, 2-3months ago, and you wind up having Skyrim out around 2015, not to mention, that Bethesda could probably do as much with Old Hardware they know, than with new Hardware they don't know (Think Oblivion)

I'd rather see Elder Scrolls games released at the end of a hardware cycle, than at the beginning.

Btw, I bet the new console is called something really stupid, like "The X" or "Project X" or "Black Box". Something to spike your hair up at, and get in your raised truck over.

Also, where does the Creation Engine fit into all of this?

My guess is it Fits in 3 years ago when it was being created.

But, The creation engine is built with Directx11 capability[?], just not using the features. It's entirely possible (and likely) that the new console will be a DX11 platform, and that the creation engine can be augmented later to take advantage of all the yummy in my tummy power, for a Fallout (4) at the early-middle of it's run.

Assuming these rumors are even true, that a new Microsoft console is on the way by 2013, It almost goes without saying that BGS would have been aware of that anyway, and they still decided to work on the 360. Considering how important Launch titles are for new Hardware, it would be Prudent to get key developers aware of the tech jump years before the public, so as to launch on a strong note.

its not confirmed but GI just released a article with inside info stateing that EA has been using the new hardware for at least a month and that microsoft is planning to release new system by the end of 2012!!! should bethesda wait and make skyrim for the new console if true?

link to article http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gameinformer.com%2Fb%2Fnews%2Farchive%2F2011%2F05%2F06%2Freport-publishers-already-working-on-new-xbox-hardware.aspx&h=d5a74

Yes this definitely has something to do with skyrim (sarcasm). And if they delayed skyrim till 2012 people would be dead in the streets. It will be ready for TES : VI, (probably elsweyr)

This is diverging into new topic territory, but I was interested to read, http://www.inphase-tech.com/ had worked on holographic storage with Nintendo. Holographic storage and interfaces could be part of the 'next gen'. What either of the three have, the others are sure to answer.

Sony is a turtle when it comes to developing their consoles. I don't even want to think about how much the PS4 console would probably cost...

Microsoft probably only gave EA a very early rig of what the next Xbox might look like. If anything, Microsoft is merely doing this to steal fire away from Project Cafe.

If Microsoft were to release a new console next year though, I would assume they would continue to still fully support the 360, as most consumers wouldn't instantly jump to the next generation.

Either way, I want the new generation to come out just so I can get my money's worth finally out of my PC. I'm tired of this generation holding back games.

Yet if the PS4 comes out, as the PS3, later than Microsoft's new console and costs more, like the PS3, at release... another generation of lackluster support and inferior ports on my side of the gaming board? :brokencomputer:

dumb idea, and it shouldn't be called the Xbox 720, it should be the Xbox 360squared because 360 is a circle and 360squared is a sphere if you position the circles on different axis

Well good. I'm glad MS is releasing an upgraded console. That's a good 2-3 years console gaming won't be holding the entire industry back!
