Xbox Achievements and PS Trophys

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:46 am

Well, seeing as I'm getting Skyrim for the Xbox, I want to see what my other fellow console players think. Should the Achievements in Skyrim be more difficult than Oblivion's, or less?

Oblivion had trophies on the PS3? I never got any. Anyway, I really don't care. I hate trophies/achievements. They don't do anything for me.

Way too early to be talking about achievements and Trophies but Oblivion was the only game that I got every single Achievement point in the game.

What about Steam achievements? :stare:

I want them to be more creative and challenging rather than being things everyone will eventually do.

Achievements in elder scrolls games just take a s*** on Bethesda's huge worlds by allowing you to get them all with only 5% of the game completed.

Same with me. Though I must admit, Oblivion's Achievements only required two play throughs and only completion counted.

If it were up to me, Achievements/Trophies wouldn't be in the game at all.

But since that will never happen, I suppose I'd like to see more challenging Achievements and Trophies. Oblivion was just too easy.

It didn't, Xbox did.

Also I'm not aware of what Oblivion achievements were, but if ps3 will have them I hope they will be something challenging, not useless as they are in every game.

Ratchet and Clank's (or well Insomniac's games) skill points are perfect example of how achievements should be made.

All of them were completion Achievements. Like, beat this quest, or reach this rank. Basically, if you did everything, you would get all the achievements.

They should definitely be more interesting than Oblivion's achievements. Rather than having an achievement for advancing in the plotline/gaining a faction rank, it would be better to have the Main Quest achievements, achievements for becoming head of a faction, and then making the rest of the achievements fun/difficult stuff. Stuff like, "Finish 5 Thieves Guild Quests without alerting the guards", or "Destroy a piece of an enemy's armour". That sort of thing; the sort of thing that you go out of your way to achieve.

I think Fallout 3 hit the nail on the head when it comes to achievements in an open world rpg. Oblivion's were way too easy and revolved solely around finishing quests. I'd expect that Skyrim's achievements are gonna be more like FO3's than OB's... Do you guys want to see avatar awards?

avatar awards, hell yes please. Armor, weapons, a sweetroll that you avatar holds up and worships... but I think the awards are under microsofts control, seeing as to how they have to do the work to get the items to work.
