Xbox live to increase.

Post » Mon Jul 12, 2010 4:45 am

Nobody is forced to buy Xbox Live, so what is the big deal? How can you have so much nerdrage about this? Just because nobody else does it, dosn't mean Microsoft can't do it. Look already, Sony is doing exactly this. The only reason they are not charging to play PS3 games online is because that was their big selling point when the PS3 came out. Free interntet play. Now they want you to pay for something that you really don't need, by saying you get this or that for free. So if anyone is evil and money grubbing, it looks like it's Sony. Then we have Activision. That is for another story I guess, because they do not have a console.

The only game I play on XBOX Live is Halo. Other than that, I have never played one game on XBOX Live and probably never will. Having said that, I will continue my XBOX LIve subscription for as long as they support Halo online. An $.80 per month increase in price to get to do something I enjoy isn't really that big of a deal to me.

I'm not saying they have to wait on me hand and foot, but would you rather support a company that no longer provides anything for the customer, yet asks for more money from them, or a company that prices their product fairly and constantly provides service. In 2011, the PS3 has Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, inFAMOUS 2, Heroes on the Move, Sorcery, Resistance 3, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, possibly Valkyria Chronicles III, and probably MLB '11: The Show, AND online remains free. The 360 has Gears of War 3, possibly a racing game from Turn 10, and possibly the Crytek game, and M$ is asking for more money for their online service so they can put in features that they stated were free. Hell, half of their Kinect games were supposed to be free, but ended up being $60 (and required the overpriced piece o' [censored] Kinect to play them), and due to outrage from the community, generous ol' M$ lowered the price to $50.

You can laugh all you want, but Sony and Nintendo care about their customers, or are at least fair to them. M$ doesn't care about their hardcoe gaming fanbase. Hell, they abandoned us to work on their [censored] motion controller, and now they want more cash from us. [censored] that is what I say. I don't support companies for the company's sake, I support companies for my sake, and Sony has been very good to their customers, with a few stupid moves on their part, but not nearly as many as M$.

LESS THAN $1 DOLLAR A MONTH! ARRRRRRRRGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
How ever will I survive this brutal increase in price. You know what... I can't I just can't anymore. I must cancel my subscription and hi
[censored] about that process to. I'm switching over to $ony, who is a respectable business, and won't try steel all of my money like those baby killers down at M$!!!!!! Who also killed Kenny! Its just so insulting, I'm telling my mommy.

$50 too much a year?If it really bothers you than switch to PS3.

Yeah, because shelling out $300 is on my to do list.

People do not understand. It's not the money. It's the principle that M$ is charging an extra $10 for no reason at all. They have added nothing to xbox live so far that is remotely close to being worth that much.

Exactly. Every time I bring this up, people call me a cheap bastard, but it's not about the money at all, which they don't seem to understand. On top of what you said, M$ is barely supporting their consoles. The amount of yearly exclusives the 360 is getting is pathetic to say the least. Why should I pay $60 every year when the only games I can play can be played elsewhere for free? M$ isn't giving me a reason to play on Xbox LIVE, yet they want more money anyway. It's that kind of nerve that they have that ticks me off.

People already fine with the additional, unwarranted, costs of the rest of MS' products (With, of course, the exception of the 360 itself, which is merely sold for a fair price) have no doubt already grown used to, and justified to themselves, paying more for less.

What about correcting for inflation? Are companies not allowed to do that?

For some odd reason, every other system has free online play. The only inflation that is an issue here is what is going on in Microsoft's wallet. All features of XBL except online play and Netflix streaming are free for silver users. Pretty much every game off the xbox that is online has free online play (MMOs excluded), and Netflix you already have to pay for.

It's pretty simple and comes down to two things, either pay it and shut up about it, or don't pay it, and shut up about it.

It's 10 more dollars a year. Hardly a fortune, ten extra dollars per year makes no difference to me really. I rarely use live anyway except to download stuff, I rarely actually play games online on my 360 as I mostly play multiplayer games on PC.

No, complaints about XBL charging for online multiplayer, $10 more a year is another step in the wrong direction. Now if they want to do what Sony did with PSN+, more power to them, but online multiplayer is free on all other platforms and there is no reason for it to cost $50 a year, much less $60. This isn't about $10 more dollars a year, this is about writing a wrong.

To reiterate: I have no problems with Microsoft charging for extra features and exclusive access to betas and stuff (like PSN+ does), but online multiplayer isn't one of those things.

So, you don't think it's worth the money?

Then don't pay.

Man we are pathetic arn't we? There is so much going in the world right now, so much injustice in the world, and here we are complaining about a $1 a month increase. "Oh It's the prinicple" some people are saying. Are you [censored] kidding me? What about all those deaths in Rawanda? What about all the other injustice that goes on where Humans die everday because we do nothing about it? What about all those animals that are set to be slaughtered are treated inhumanely? There is so much more to yell about on principle than something that is a $1 a month increase. Oh shure, let 1000's of people die in the world. Let our fellow man suffer, but heave forbid something that increases in price for a $1 a month, we need to band together and take a stand for a $1 month increase.

Yes we are pathectic when we have to raise our voices and complain about a $1 months increase. I don't even think it comes to a $1 a month.

Nope. Where I live I am also entitled to voice my opinion.

If every XBL Gold user were to instead to donate even just the $10 increase, much less the total fee, a LOT of good could be done with that money. Who has their perspectives wrong now? (And before you ask, yes, I do donate money.)

Edit: decided people don't need to know how little I make, and it felt like I was rubbing it in by posting how much I donated.

Yeah, to them. Either on their forums or in email/letter form. Whining about it on an unrelated forum they'll never look at is a waste of time.

Also, all the stuff you're saying about how it's wrong is total BS, I'm sorry. There's no wrong or right here, there's a multitude of other options and if someone chooses to pay that money it's none of your business nor is Microsoft super evil and feasting on the souls of babies, they may have a business ethic people disagree with, but then it's up to them to not buy their product.

There's always more savvy consumers in every market, but it seems that when it comes to gaming these people can never give it up about how their way of doing it is the best and no-one can do it any other way. Just consider yourself lucky there's free multiplayer on the other platforms you have and speak with your wallet, instead of your keyboard.

It's called recruiting :whisper: It is the same reason there is a facebook group about this and countless petitions on the Internet about it too. One voice isn't loud, so other voices must be added. I have written many letters in the past to companies. Most recently was when Yen Press releassed the Spice and Wolf novels without the original artwork. They recieved enough complaints that they released the original artwork as a dust jacket, and volume 2+ will all sport the original artwork by default.

ethics is the study of right and wrong. If their business ethics are wrong to me and others, then they indeed did do wrong to me and others.

Yeah..I've come to expect that response from him. ^_^

Anyway, XBL offers more than any other online gaming service as far as consoles goes. And don't even try to lie and say that PS3's online nation whatever-the-hell nonsense they have going on even compares to XBL. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying it was right for them to increase the price for no reason, but some companies have to do that because of money issues. And it's not like business is a'boomin' with M$.

Gee, we better get budget reports from everyone to make sure they are spending their money on leisure activities in the most efficient manner possible. We wouldn't want anybody to be doing it wrong.

Also, why are people who don't use LIVE and never plan to posting? It doesn't affect you at all, so you can keep your damn smugness to yourselves.
