Well Newegg and Amazon feel our pain and are selling discounted 12 months for $40. Buy a few now and save a bunch of money.

You'd think the billions of dollars would be enough.

I swear, people complain about anything.

"I have to pay ten extra dollars? Preposterous! How am I supposed to buy my necessities if I have to spend an extra ten dollars!?"

I love how they cite all the new features they've been adding as the reason for the price hike. Has it ever occurred to them that most of the new features are unnecessary and I don't want them? Fine, charge me more for Netflix or whatever dumb [censored] they want to give. All I want is to be able to play online games, why do I have to start paying for [censored] I don't want? That said, $10 more a year isn't a huge deal, but it still pisses me off I'm personally not getting anything I want out of it, it seems. Mostly just stupid features I never use.

Because money is evil. And anyone who like money is evil. We should all use a bartering system. Or give everything away for free.

I was directing that more towards the small increase in price.
Plus I don't like playing games online so none of this bothers me at all.

Missing the point a bit...?

These services are being given for free from other equivalent competitor services. Xbox is charging for stuff you can get elsewhere for free, and now they are charging more.

But they've been charging for it for quite a while, haven't they?

But, I don't even have a 360, so maybe I shouldn't be talking.

It's going to be 10 bucks more per year, how is this a major issue? Especially considering how much extra content there is available and all the new features and such.

Funny how people complain about paying $60 USD a year to play on line and yet some continue to shell out $150+ a year for MMOs...

All new content sans Netflix is available for free to Silver accounts, so given that silver accounts exist, there is no new extra content and features (all features Gold offers over Silver are given freely by other systems as well)

The XBL fee is a brand-name fee, nothing more.

Don't you have to pay a separate fee to use the Netflix service?

Yes, you need to have a netflix account in addition to the gold membership for live.

So they're adding $10 because of Netflix?
What I don't get is that they're adding $10 and they still haven't fixed those annoying bugs since the last dashboard update. :stare:

I can't think of anything Apple convinced people to pay for that they got legally for free before....

I really am not allowed to say on the BSF what Apple has done. Lets just say... people are paying for this right now, I am not saying it is right or wrong, but people are paying for something right now which they can get for free if they really wanted too.

At least Microsoft is supplying a service to do this. They are providing bandwidth and what ever for their Xbox Live Gold services. If you do not need them, don't get it, if you want to play it, you pay for it. It's just like paying for an MMO. Why do people pay for MMOs when they can do it for free? Millions still pay to play each month for what ever game, even though they paid $60 or what ever to get that game in the first place.

Also for people who say Microsoft nickle and dimes their customers. Really? How is this? Micorsoft looses millions of dollars on their sales of the 360. Well at first they did, not shure if it is still the case now. Microsoft dosn't make any profit on it's sales of it's consoles, they sell them for a loss, so I am not shure how Microsoft niclke and dimes it's customers. This just sounds like Microsoft bashing. (Usually I make fun of Microsoft, why am I defending them in this case? I must be sick today LOL.)

Hard drive prices are stuck in the 90s, Microsoft's moon money is rigged in such a way you can't buy "a game"'s worth, you have some left over. They advertise on the service you're paying for. So on.

UUUUUUUUUUugh. If only this thread was made last week so it would remind me to cancel my xbox live's automatic renewal. Now I'm out $50 on a service I haven't used in months. Maybe something will come along that will convince me to get some use out of it....unlikely, but I can dream.

What I don't understand is that it's likely gotten cheaper for Microsoft to run Xbox Live, but it's a price increase instead of a decrease. I guess I might be wrong.

Yes I can understand this, but give credit to where it's due at least. We get a great console and we don't pay the full price for it. We actually pay less than for what it costs them to make. Sony [censored]es and cries out in public about this, and Nintendo will never do this.

Then again, I am so use to ignoring advertising, since we are so saturated with it, that I don't even notice it. It use to bug me to have advertising even when paying for something, but now, I am use to it and I can ignore it. :foodndrink:

 I'm primarily a PS3 player and, for older games, a PC player. I also never play any games online, so this doesn't really bother me in any way.
