The PS3 was sold at a higher profit-loss than the 360 was, and stayed at profit-loss for longer. Most consoles are sold at a profit-loss when they are released (the Wii being a notable exception), that is the way the console market works. They sell the console at a reduced price, and gouge the prices of games and content more (Microsoft also takes a considerable chunk of every purchased DLC too, charging the makers for hosting it). The 360 has not been sold at a profit-loss in a couple of years now.
That is true, but you don't hear Microsoft crying and complaining about it. Sony does it because they have to stay competitive with the 360. If there was no Microsoft, you would not be buying a PS3 for so cheap. They complain about it loudly. Or I should say, they use to complain about it loudly. That was very unproffesional of Sony when they did that when the PS3 first came out.
As to the post that Activision told Microsoft cough up more money or no CoD on the 360, I don't think so. I would believe Microsoft would tell Activision to go ahead and make it a PS3 exclusive. Just look at all the sales Activision would loose from not having any 360 sales. The majority of their sales are from the 360. There is no way Activision will be saying pay up or else.
I believe the only reason for xbox live gold is for playing the Halo games online. Otherwise why bother since Halo is an xbox only game, so you want to play Halo online you need Gold. Other wise other systems could be used to play for free.
