Xbox Official Magazine UK - Skyrim Exclusive

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:52 am

apologies if someone else has already posted this but new (or at least I think new) screenshots in OXM UK :

a large spread of a nord warrior charging toward a HUGE spider (the size of shelob from LOTR movies if the nord warrior is the size of frodo) wielding a large two handed axe.
a dragon perched on some stone ruins but looking up at it from the base of the ruins
the standard nord warrior with shield and 1handed axe facing a dragon thats breathing fire at him

Those were all in the GI article. Sorry.

Yeah, don't feel like the lone ranger, GI insists that I buy subcription or get a free subscription with the purchase of a GameStop account, 15$. I said Noooooooo, spank yooou.

Yes but that $15 gets you TWELVE issues of game Informer plus the gamestop edge card (or whatever its called now) which let's you get games for cheaper. As opposed to paying $10 for ONE issue of OXM.... I really don't see how that's a bad deal?

Also keep in mind OXM and PTOM are both higher because they come with demo discs.

But anyway as far as the podcast goes I assume they are referring to the OXM UK podcast which you can find on iTunes. However they haven't had a new podcast since 5/6/10. So I don't know
They are definitely not talking about KOXM (which is the american podcast) because I listen to that every week and they didn't have a interview with Todd Howard or even mention the possibility of one in the future.

A thread containing all the info from the OXM UK magazine and details of the screens was started on the 8th or 9th Feb when the mag shipped to subscribers. There isn't much more to report on other than the animal AI, lighfoot perk and bleedout. Todd is as vague as ever in the interview.

Doesn't it seem bizarre that they advertised a podcast and there is no sign of it?

Only £6? Here in Norway we have to pay between 11 and 16.

Watching it now. The guy is in the studio talking to Todd. 6 new screens that I have not seen so far. Don't own any mags though.

Shield bash and power attacks is that new?

Edit: Instead of skipping the dialogue you press "B" and you can just walk away and the guy will carry on talking until you get far enough away.
Topics are also around the edge of the screen or something where you can select them. I don't know if he means radial or what.

Everything else is the info we already know, like it will be the same size as Cyrodill and there are glaciers and stuff that make the landscape different.

Have not heard that.

That's a bummer... The latest OXM Report over here in the states is Marvel VS Capcom 3. Damn you UK folks! :P

Nope, the dragon perched on the ruins is new. Game Informer has one image of a dragon perched on ruins, OXM has two images. The new one shows the dragon from the front, really well lit, and would be great for anolyzing the detail on dragons if the screenshot wasn't so damn small... when it gets uploaded in HD I'm sure we'll all go nuts over it.

There's also a new angle on the nordic warrior in a mountain scene, with a dragon flying above him. The angle is much lower to the ground, and closer to the character, so that the mountains aren't in view anymore. Just the warrior and the dragon. There may even be some new screens of the player walking around in dungeons, since there's several of them in total. Nothing really special in any of them though.

I second the question regarding watching this OXM report online somewhere. I don't have a 360. Really want to catch the interview.

So this pretty much confirms that the pc is locked in place "frozen" during dialogue like in oblivion. The npcs however are not frozen anymore and can move while engaged in dialogue.

Bethesda need to release new info if the forums have degerated into discussing prices of magazines. That said all the 'exclusives' show the same pics with the same info.

Could mean exclusive per country. Which would be why OXM in the UK features Skyrim, but OXM in the USA didn't - GameInformer already had the exclusive state-side.

Picked this up in Tesco today (think it's only come out in the last couple of days?) and shoved it into my basket. Double checked the price before I paid though and it was £6!! Normally I don't buy this magazine so don't know the price, is this normal?

Also does it have the exact same screenshots as Game Informer? My friend sent me a copy of GI from the states so if it's the same screenies and info I'm not wasting £6 on it.

As a result I didn't buy it and thus have ZERO information on the contents. ;)

Its the same [censored], don't waste your money on those money grabbing evil [censored]s :flamethrower:

£6? £6?! Back in my day £6 would get you an eating horse and twice the regular portions of Oats n' Beans!

Inflation is not your friend :P.

Here's the basic run-down of information in the article (I don't know if GI have already covered some of these):

  • Two dozen towns
  • Five major cities
  • A Dragon Shout that can slow down time
  • A Dragon shout that can blasts stuff in front of you backwards
  • Can Block and attack at the same time
  • Can use magic and weapons
  • Telekinesis returns
  • Axe can have a 'deep cut perk'
  • Maces can have a perk that ignores enemies armour
  • Can lay traps using runes
  • One perk can quieten footsteps
  • Dynamic snow
  • No classes
  • All old races return (no news ones)
  • No more agility ('to build up)(?)
  • Perks are more practical than Fallout
  • Variety in the terrain
  • Markarth is one of the cities
  • Riverwood is a town
  • Each dungeon is different
  • More puzzles and traps in dungeons
  • Dragon attacks are random
  • Conversations don't zoom in on a person's face
  • Real time conversations
  • NPCs have proper jobs
  • You can cook, chop wood, run a saw mill
  • Each settlement has it's own economy
  • People can give you stuff you drop in a town back (if you want it) or they might steal it
  • Kill a character and their friend/family member will avenge them.
  • Kill a character associated with a quest, and you can complete the quest by talking to a family friend or another family member
  • Random quests
  • Random quests will send you to locations you've not been before
  • Dark Brotherhood
  • Every item can be inspected in 3D
  • Not all wild creature are hostile (some may just pass you, other may attack)
  • Level scaling is like Fallout 3 style
  • Dragon tear up the landscape when attacking
