Xbox Official Magazine UK - Skyrim Exclusive

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:06 pm

Picked this up in Tesco today (think it's only come out in the last couple of days?) and shoved it into my basket. Double checked the price before I paid though and it was £6!! Normally I don't buy this magazine so don't know the price, is this normal?

Also does it have the exact same screenshots as Game Informer? My friend sent me a copy of GI from the states so if it's the same screenies and info I'm not wasting £6 on it.

As a result I didn't buy it and thus have ZERO information on the contents. ;)

Wow, that price is insane. Are the pages made of gold over there?! :P

From what I have heard they are all the same. We've only had one new picture released since GI and that was in GameReactor (the shot looking over the water with mountains in the background).

From what I remember there's one picture of that dragon on a pillar from a different angle (from the front and beneath) which I hadn't seen before.

I honestly did a double take when I saw it. Wasn't sure if that was a special issue price though so might normally be cheaper...

Information are more important than pictures which are as-of-yet appeared unoptimised, nor final. Anything new revealed in this magazine?

The price was always insane, but I buy it for the exclusive gamerpics & themes not available on Xbox Live.

£6? £6?! Back in my day £6 would get you an eating horse and twice the regular portions of Oats n' Beans!

Ha welcome to specialised interest publications. or "how we charge you more as it's a hobby" magazine.
Loads of pictures, full colour press in britain for most magazines is expensive.
Mostly just because it can be, partially due to the fact that being focused more on one thing it does not get the advertising revenue of mainstream media.
Re: cosmetic companies or fashion houses, or chain stores like tescos.

As to your question is there anything new, I don't know.

I'm not wasting £6 on it.

Anyone know the conversion to US currency?

I also thought this thread was about new magazine info. Darn it. Ok, I'm over it, back on with life.

Usually OXM has a demo disk in it though, doesn't it? My copies usually do. O.o(Checked this - the last one didn't. Sometimes they do though.) I checked at Waitrose for it earlier this week - I believe it was out on the 10th? - but they were all out! I think PlayStation Magazine UK is new this week as well with Skyrim info. Hopefully my husband remembers to pick up a copy of either magazine today. I needs mah Skyriiiim!

I did the same. Didn't check the price, just picked it up and walked over to the til. £6?!

As for the pictures... I had seen most of them before, a few smaller ones I hadn't seen on the internet. Nothing too exciting.

Not worth the £6 but then again it is Elder Scrolls.

Depends how brave ye be wi' yer cash, lassie.

I bought my first copy of the official xbox magazine last thursday and found it to be a bit expensive. I wouldn't normally buy a magazine about games, but it was a Skyrim article so meh... ofc i was gonna get it. :celebrate:

All i feel the same disapointment you felt as i did not see any screenshots in that mag that i had not already seen on the internet.

Emz, check out the 41st page of that mag. It says:

"OXM PODCAST Head to iTunes where Todd Howard reveals behind the scenes info."

Do you has any idea where this podcast is on the website?

Most magazines in Canada cost $10-15.

Sounds pretty normal to me.

Sorry guys I didn't actually buy it. Once I realised it was £6 I was like....um nah. I have a copy of GI (which cost me the same price for my friend to buy it and ship it over near enough ;)) so thought it was a bit daft to buy the information twice at that price...

OXM is always £6, and so is Playstation Magazine. But sometimes, they do come with demo disks, and they sometimes release content on their respective systems. (Ah, GameInformer sub, I miss thee...)

Sorry I did say in my OP that 'if it's the same screenies and info I'm not wasting £6 on it.' which I thought would indicate I didn't buy it...I'll edit my OP to confirm this. ;)

As far as I know, there are one or two screenshots that aren't on the internet (but that doesn't mean that GI hasn't got them). And £5.99 is the usual price for OXM, I've gotten that past 7 issues (just by chance, I didn't realise I was doing it every month) and the ones that I've bought long before now where about that price as far as I can remember. The price was worth it to me as it's the only hard-copy set of screenies I'll be getting D:
