A console would be announced WAY before it goes into mass production as a way to anolyse interest in the machine, this helps them to determine how many should be produced in the first batch and what not, otherwise they could end up spending money on making crap loads that don't sell well, or they may end up not making enough and causing supply issues. (I study this in college )

I truly never liked them calling it "Xbox One" We had Xbox One and that was the originally xbox back in 2002. I loved the code names for xbox one like Infinity(may have been 360 code name) or Durango. These would have been far better than what we got in 2013 with xbox so eh
