Xbox One Mods?

Post » Sun Feb 23, 2014 7:51 am

Just wondering if it's possible to make mods for Xbox One. I'm always jealous to see PC Skyrim with huge 20+ hour story mods. I'm sure there may be some useful mods for ESO and am wondering if Xbox One will be able to get them too. And then in the future - just think, Halo 5 with mods!

That's too bad! I thought I read an article once that because the Xbox One is a dev kit, mods are possible, but I guess not.

A dev kit is a different version of a normal console that the game developers have. It isn't something you can buy to make mods. ESO certainly won't have any mods other than UI ones and the Xbox and Playstation like always will have ZERO mods. For many reasons that have been explained over the internet a million and one times.

They have always been capable of mods. Even before the new consoles. A mod isn't some special concept. It's just another bsa or esp file. The same as any official mod. Also know as DLC.

The issue is not even with the developers. Hell, they want the consoles to use mods. It's the console hierarchy that prevents it.

Microsoft and Sony don't want to be responsible for any Damage that might come from installing mods, a lot of people think they can just download whatever they want in any order and it works fine. Mods require a bit of learning and patience for them to work properly.

Can you even access install files on a console? I don't know, because I've never been a fan of consoles.

Not really, unless one install linux or some OS that can "see" the data on a HD drive. If does that, Sony and / or Microsoft will help you in any way.
