XBOX: Patch it. Did Crytek even play test this game?

Post » Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:04 pm

Finished the Campaign on Super Soldier, and have to say loved the game, but damn what a test of patience.

Kind of Ironic the first achievement is "Can it run Crysis?"
Game constantly crashed, on Lab Rat after almost finishing the level, where you get the checkpoint upon entering the building where Gould's computer is the game crashed, I rebooted the xbox (as I had done numerous times up until this point) reloaded my game and was met like others by the "black screen" forcing me to restart the level and starting with crappy default weapons.

Seems many xbox owners have this problem, never had any other games do this to me except Soldier of Fortune: Payback, so it's definitely a game issue, and a rather serious one.

Add in bizarre graphical glitches, I ran down a street killed everything went back down the street and there were a pair of nano suit arms floating mid air at head height. I thought it was funny until I noticed such things all through the entire game. C.E.L.L Soldiers respawning buried to their waists in the street, not moving but killable (they even kindly dropped weapons)

On every level that has the JAW, if I didn't get it when I first saw it, when I went back it was gone, EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!! (even if I just turned my back on it for a second) Also having the rocket just vanish after firing it, smoke trail reaches target, no BOOM! another WTF? Had some C4 vanish also, though not as much as the JAW.

Parts would fall of my guns, fire of a few rounds with a silenced SCAR, walk back and there's a silencer lying on the ground. This sort of thing happened with various weapons through out the campaign, seriously WTF?

A.I, soldiers couldn't navigate simple path ways, many would just walk into walls repeatedly, then for unknown reason would just die. Guess it was from head trauma from head butting the walls?

Saw a fair few Ceph just walk off cliffs and building too, not running, not jumping,it was like they lost the will to live and just stepped off the edge rather casually.

Then we have multi-player, major lag issues as if the game picks the person with the worst possible connection to host. Being assassinated by someone no where near you is a joke. When games aren't lagging we see BS kills, I shoot some guy with the MK 60 unload half my "belt" into him, I open fire and hit him before he does, and who dies, ME!!! how? 2 shots to the balls from some pissy little sub machine gun. Kill cam confirmed that every shot I fired hit him and that indeed 2 bullets to my groin.
This sort of thing had many players scratching their head.

Has the game already been hacked? How does EA and Crytek deal with hacking? Because I can tell you a lot of players after just a couple of days of the game being out are feeling there are players on the xbox cheating.

Also visual glitches in the game also, like with the C.E.L.L soldiers mention above, Player models appearing around the level, not holograms, actual player models, which makes game play harder, opening fire on a "dummy" just to get killed because you gave away your position for a fake.

Would of been nice to have a skill matching system too. Bit hard going against higher ranked players with weapons that have no kick back with a gun that fires all over the place.

Also I can understand a single bullet to the head killing you, but it makes the NANO suit Armour redundant when powering up seems to offer no head protection at all. Another WTF? Shouldn't being armoured make your head along with your body take more damage?

This game could of kicked ass, it's a lot of fun to play, but I doubt any of the game reviewers who scored it so high even bothered to play the game. Highly doubtful that only the reviewers and not the customers got unbugged versions of the game. It wouldn't be the first time reviewers received some kind of incentive to give good reviews or based reviews on the hype (HALO 2 anyone?) 9 out of 10? that's just wrong with the game being so glitched.

So come on EA and Crytek, patch this game, fix the major bugs, stop/ban the hackers, and do something about the network code.

Fix the problems and the game would deserve it's high scores. But for now, no way.

I installed it as I do with all my games, as I stated I am not the only one having this issue. People all over the net have had the same problems, many casual gamers never visit official forums, like Reach for example, many post on Halo Waypoints FB page, not realising Bungie.net is the place to go. Same for Crysis2, if you go to the official MS Xbox site there are heaps of posts about the same sort of issues under the crysis forum from noob gamers who think all xbox problems should be addressed to MS.

i've noticed a few dodgy bits, the first alien i encountered was running into a wall and wen i killed him his body disapeared into the building which was impossible to get into, a quick reload however fixed it.
aside from that there wasn't any other major issues, even in MP everyone is on 4bars, maybe im getting lucky who knows.

Only almost-game-breaking Campaign issue I had was
one of the cloaked aliens got stuck halfway into a rock face and I had to go find him before the final door would open
Luckily I did manage to locate it and kill it.

Besides that, a few guys running into walls here and there, but the AI was great for the most part.

I agree I don't get how two bullets to the knees can kill me if I'm using power armor. Also, a single head shot to shouldn't kill a power armored guy either. It's stupid.

I love the game but they need to fix the MP, they're too much random kill luck, it goes both ways so it evens out but it's kinda ridiculous.

And armor should be more useful, take away a single headshot kill for armored guys.

Only 3 things I can harp about this game, The multiplayer Lag is bad enough to discourage me to play for extensive periods, The SCAR is obviously overpowered and when the orbital Strike is called, when you look into it the frame rate drops to about 15 Fps sometimes lower.

I say it's going to take at least a month or 2 before they start with patching the game. And hopefully they start with MP b/c it's just terrible right now.

Perhaps you didn't screw it on tight enough?
