Xbox version of Skyrim Thoughts?

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2011 7:39 pm

From that 3 part demo Todd gave us, Skyrim looks better than Oblivion maxed out on PC with mods.
So...bad graphics....wut?

It's really just a matter of how well it RUNS.

If 360 players want to play on 360 let them. Make them aware of the facts if they ask but don't make a thread saying you want them to switch platform, that's just arrogant.

All the previews I've read say that it looks great. And yes, because we ALL have money to go out and buy a new high-end PC to play ONE game  /sarcasm

im not here to make you sad or worry, im just stating facts:

Demo impressions left by players who played the Alpha Version of the xbox.

all most all of them claim that the game looks old, and even one said "you can feel that the Xbox is ageing".

the graphics cant be processed as top notch and skyrim cant be seen in its full glory.

some claimed there were alot of framerate issues (could be the Alpha build).

Now for the PC for example Todd himself stated that "Skyrim will melt your Face off" on the PC.

im pretty sure the Timed Exlusive DLC for the xbox that Microsoft are pulling is just to Squeeze more money from xbox, knowing that the Xbox is going to die, probably next year. as more developers complain that xbox 360 hardware is old.

what is thread is all about is i really do hope Xbox players consider getting a decent PC or atleast PS3, just so they can get the full experince of the game.

i know money is a problem im not rich either but managed to buy a decent PC.

I never had a issue with the graphics and framerate in OB or FO3 on the 360, playing in 1080p with a HDMI connection.

Get it on the PS3, seriously? The worst option for multi platform games, usually inferior to the 360 with many games, including FO3 (not sure about Oblivion).

A few people who have tried the demo have stated that they played it on a poorer resolution screen not connected with a HDMI cable, so that would account for SOME of the more negative reviews.

"Bad graphics" lol? Would you like me to link you to previews that say otherwise, or are you only interested in the negative ones? Since you know....it's not subjective or anything...

Link the ones discussing graphics if you wish to show them it does not look terrible.

Would you like me to link you to the hardware (or lack thereof) specs of the Xbox? It is physically impossible for Bethesda to make Skyrim look good by today's standards on a console. It will never be on par with a PC (or even some Ps3 exclusives) due to hardware limitations. It just can't happen.

I'm not saying it will look bad, but it won't blow anyone's breath away.

Link the hardware if you wish to show everybody the 360's power or lack of it. I still think it looks good even great and anyway graphics do not make a game great...

the fact that you think it will look better on ps3 makes me literally laugh out loud.. all games that are made for both consoles are primarily developed on 360 then ported over to ps3 cause it cant go over the 8gb or whatever limit that xbox has and ps3 doesnt because of blueray.. every game that is on both is ALWAYS more significant on the 360.. so by you saying you should get a ps3 proves how [censored] you are and your post.. and i have enough money saved up to get any high end pc but i chose not too so dont think i am jealous of pc users. i could buy one tonight if i so desired

The previews that said the graphics are good, also point out some low res textures and what not. Most of them say that Skyrim is pushing the console to its limit and still looks good overall though. "Bad graphics" was a complete exaggeration on your part. Low res textures? Yes? "Bad graphics"? No.

Every video we have seen so far even the 3 parts demo in full HD have been on the Xbox360 the graphics are "good" thats it and will never be More then "good" because people like you refuse to Get better hardware.

it's all subjective. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people swear up and down that Uncharted 2's graphics were amazingly behind the times.

There's a very fine line and a HUGE difference between what people expect to be awesome, and what actually is.

Why would an xbox owner buy a PS3, they are like the same thing, and i prefer x-box live personally. Oh well, PC's are so much better than Consoles at the moment. Anyone know if a Clevo lap-top could run skyrim on high?

I was impressed with graphics so my question to you is, what do you expect? and yes it will look better for PC, come on man, this is not a surprise.

If performance worries you, then the answers is "ALPHA BUILD" they built this game with consoles in mind so forget about it, they will improve perfomance.

I'm tired of hearing about the PS3 being better than the 360. People always quote sources saying how the PS3 is almighty and has the best stats of anything on Earth, but it was created so haphazardly that you can't use any of those stats. 360 version will be fine, most likely better than the PS3 version, since it's being made for the 360. As I have posted 9003 times so far, the PS3 has slightly better graphics, the 360 has slightly better performance. Both equally svck. And PC's aren't much better. They're inconvenient, expensive, and unreliable. They run games far better, but; are more prone to crashing, cost way more than a console, and sitting at the computer is less comfortable than my bed. They all have their good points and bad points. Me personally, if I could afford a new PC, I'd use that. But since I can't, I'll stick with my reliable 360, which may not have the best graphics out there, but won't freeze, glitch, crash, or lag as much as a PS3. I hate console wars, because THEY ALL EQUALLY svck! It all depends on preference, and I prefer my "out of date about to die" console which runs whatever I put in smoothly.

From what we have seen, it still looks good to me, even if it's on the Xbox.
Epecially considering how open and interactive the world is.
I am actually surprised it looks as good as it does for the old console.
Let us know what you think after you have played it though. I am sure there will still be many complaints, especially from console players.

Well, of course they don't. I still rank Morrowind in my top 5 games of all time, along with Deus Ex. Both of which have abysmal graphics. I'm not trying to hate on Skyrim, I'm just saying that it's console versions don't look particularly amazing. Again, not bad by any standards. In fact, they look good. They just aren't the best graphics on consoles (or at all) like some of you are hyping it up to be.

It'll look fine on the 360. Not as good as on the PC, but still fine. You're worrying over nothing.

I never said it was the best looking game out there. Mass Effect 2 looks about as good as Skyrim Mass Effect 3 will surpass it for sure. It ranks as one of the better looking games but not the best.

I like a lot of older games Final Fantasy I-XIII, Dragon Quest, Mario, Zelda, Metroid: But Morrowind and Oblivion tie in first of my all time favorite game ever. Skyrim will join them. :tes:

ok this is from my old topic. this is why Xbox owners Actully effects Gaming by not moving on, its happening in every AAA title. Microsoft Owns Gaming.

well you know microsoft(not officially) just delayed Batman arkham city for pc, so the xbox will get more sales, this is how it goes:

Microsoft owns Xbox they have to fight sony to make more money, PS3 vs Xbox.

Microsoft / Sony, are willing to pay Tons of money to win this fight by paying game studios that developing Triple A titles (Batman, CoD, GTA and yes Skyrim)

the reason Microsoft and sony are paying to delay the PC version of each game and make the game temparary exslusive for the Xbox/PS3, is that they want to prevent PC market (which is by far, the biggest of them all) of buying the game for the PC, so some crazy fan boys of certain game will buy the game for Xbox, or if needed buy AN xbox 360, just so they can play the game early, thus microsoft increases profits and xbox clients.

now im 100% sure that Microsoft will offer bethesda an "offer that they cant refuse" (here is a few millions for a month delay for the pc version), its been done alot of times before, some studios claiming that they delayed for "improving" the pc version but we all know its All about the money.

But Some powerful studios dont give up so easily for offers, the reason some wont accept microsoft or sony offer is Fans some stuidos actully care about thier fans.

so what do you think, dont say it wont happen, its just Happend to batman arkham city

http://www.gameshard.net/skyrim-hands-on.html

"the visuals on the Xbox 360 version we played are great, a definite step up from Oblivion -especially in terms of atmospherics and animation -"

I just read that one today. I'd dig up more, but i'm doing this from my phone. Not the most ideal situation.

The graphics are pretty good, but not top notch. But that's only when you consider things like dynamic cloth and hair. Lighting could be improved a bit, but it looks pretty good. Some of the modeling isn't quite what it could be as far as trees go in my opinion, but then that is completely subjective. Those things could have been done (the dynamic cloth and the like) on the 360, as we've seen it in Assassin's Creed, and Fable, but it's not something I'm generally worried about. I won't say graphics make the game, but better graphics do make a good game better.

Both the 360 and PS3 are limited and showing their age. Technology for PC's is constantly developing, there is always new hardware coming out, faster, better, more efficient. Consoles don't develop as fast, sadly. We need the next gen consoles so gaming can move forward and take advantage of the better hardware. Games that are exclusive for the PC generally tend to blow anything on the consoles out of the water. Games that are developed for the consoles and port to PC (which seems to be the norm) don't even come close to reaching the potential of many even mid range PCs.

I'm a PC gamer (and am on my 3rd 360 :P ), and get annoyed that Microsoft and Sony want to bleed every coin they can from the current consoles. Can't blame them for it, but as a result the technology stagnates, and so do games.
