pc or xbox, which one to get

Post » Fri Nov 26, 2010 2:23 am

im only recently started pc gaming and im not real comfortable with the mouse and keyboard setup as opposed to a controller, and i dont have any friends on steam, BUT im thinking of getting this for the pc, i should be able to play it (i5 processor nvidia graphics card and some other). i havent ever played an online shooter for the pc.... do we know if this game has controller support (so i can sit in my recliner and play).

im planning to wait till late tomorrow to get it, im going to look at reviews people have put up about the game then if they are mostly good run by after work and pick the game up

edit: i forgot to add this BUT i do have a controller for the pc, i have gotten semi use to playing with mouse keyboards , and even if i dont want to my laptop screen is 18.4 in corner to corner (widescreen) and my tv i play xbox on is like 12. (non widescreen) also my tv is an older one so small text=blury=unreadable (bfbc2 im sorry ur a GREAT game, but not being able to read what the perks do kind of breaks the game) so i actually have a better image if i just turn my laptop towards my recliner and tilt the screen than if i play on my tv , i HAVE played some online games on pc but its stuff like battlefield for free and Americas army , the crysis 2 demo (though that was before i finally got a gaming mouse) and ive been playing some borderlands (single player) , and i can run borderlands maxed out (include AA)... my laptop gets HOT but it runs it with NO fps drop.. im talking smooth sailing. thats every setting maxed out (sept depth of feild, i just dont like it). also ive never been happy with the community on xbox. to many kids who dont want to work together(lol im only 18 and im talking about "kids"), most dont have mics . i like to work WITH people. i find the win MUCH more satisfying . most of the people on my xbox accounts friends list are just people i have meet online and are just names in the list.. a few are friends. but only one or 2 of them are on much.and i can talk to them other places.

depends your playstyle.

If you pref more competitive scene and better community then PC

If you pref just kicking back on a couch relaxing then Xbox

Aight, I've read your little text, and from what I can make out of it you should get it for the XBOX360

- You're more confortable with the controller
- You don't have any friends on STEAM, but I guess you do on LIVE
- You've never played FPS on the PC
- And it's 50/50 now with the information if XBOX controllers work with the PC, the devs says they used it for the PC when playtesting, yet the community managed said there is no official support for the controller

All in all..

Everything I've found using my Google Fu indicates that it DOES include controller support by virtue of being designated a "Games for Windows" game, but we all know how much random internet assumptions are worth.

I'd go with XBOX in your situation, since you want to use a controller. I can't imagine playing with a controller versus KB/M.

This is a trainwreck thread waiting to happen. I would suggest PS3. While 360 has a more robust community, the PS3 has far superior elements in most categories, include the Blu-Ray player, free online play, media servers and easy connectivity to most third party manufacturers and you are all set to go. Cheers~!

Which do you have more Brink playing friends on?
Do you like a TV or a monitor more? (Ignore if you play PC games on your TV)
Do you like a controller or a mouse more? (Ignore if you have a wired controller)
Which do you prefer more?

There, 4 simple questions that should (hopefully) allow you to make your mind up.

Yeah, I know - I didn't find anything that would ''aggrivate'' me, but then again, not much does :l

But the thing is that some people can tick of anything, and some of those people like to get into fights - internet fights

Just trying to secure the thread

Ok but technically he does not state that he has a 360 either, so I was assuming he only had a PC. Fair enough. . .

Why would he put the Xbox in his poll or list of choices if he did not have an Xbox?

lemme preface what im about to say with i buying the game on xbox (if my pc could run it better, i still would get on Xbox because of my friends on live who will hopefully buy it, but if no friends then i would get pc)...

that being said, if you have a PC that is capable of easily running this game on a graphics setting better than the 360, then buy the pc version, if not, then dont. PC games are almost always superior to their console counterpart because PCs are more powerful than consoles, dedicated servers with browser instead of client hosting, less lil kids, ect.

if the game is gonna chug at 15 fps at times or you have to play on a worsse gfx setting than what you would get out of the 360, then buy the 360 version. Hope that helps. The only reason to get xbox over pc is you have both is where your friends are at. the sitting back on the couch portion is true too but I owuldnt say the xbox community is a bunch of non compettive noobs just because we like to sit on a couch with a controller when we play.

A list of the tech specs of your pc may help others judge for you better as no one wants to buy a game if its going to underpwerform on your system or if its gonna look like garbage. Considering I only run sc2 on medium settings (on my laptop, i5 2.4x4, 6 gbs rams, 1 gb ati gfx card), ill stick with the 360 version.

I say 360. If you aren't comfortable playing on the PC and you don't have Steam friends, you wont get the full experience.

where is this free online? im a ps3 owner so im not any xbox really devoted fan ive had a ps3 2 years now and newly owner of xbox and xbox has superior online it cost 50 a year which is basicly the cost of 1 game for xbox its not that expensive. Ps3's exclusives can be better than xbox due to blu ray the move is 10x better than the kinect and ps3 has a better controller. they are both great each are for different people. alot of xbox's success is due to its made by microsoft one of the richest companies in the world and they practicly give out money so ps3 players will be annoyed(not trying to sound like a really devoted fan) also the xbox is easier to work with which is bethesda's fav console (now i am their really devoted fan) so all in all they are both great systems I personaly like xbox better but does that mean the other svcks? NO! they are both great and its a matter of opinion besides tommorow he wont beable to play multiplayer if he had it for ps3
