xbox360 has twice the polygonpower of a ps3! use it crytek!

Dear crytek, the xbox360 is able to display twice as many polygons than the ps3! the 360 can do over 500.000.000 million polygons! while the ps3 does only around 250.000.000 million polygons! well more polygons=more detail=better graphics! same with RAM texture memory 360=512mb + 10mb edram extra for AA. ps3 has only 256mb ram for graphics the other 256mb are just for media downloads! but not available for graphics! 360 can also handle more shaders and has overall a better shadersystem because its unified! 360 has 3 real main cores each 3,2ghz and 2 threads per core so it can do 2 operations at the same time! so its 3 real cores with 6 threads! ps3 has only 1 real main core clocked at 3,2ghz not 7 or 8! the other 6 sub cores are threads but no real cores! so its 1 real main core and 6 threads! its a shame that many developers does not take advantage of this, and keep the polygoncount low just to make it run on the ps3 aswell! but i hope you will take advantage of the full capabilities of the 360 crytek!

The Xbox's memory is more 'versatile', but they are both near-identical in performance nonetheless. Get over it.

I don't want to seem confrontational but I think Crytek knows a lot better than you do about the particular pro and cons of the inner workings of the PS3 and x360.

Btw the Cell is dual thread.

Xbox initially has the advantage of better GPU, more pool memory and a more dev-friendly developer interface which makes it easier for developers to get a grasp of the consoles capabilities. This being one of the reasons that multi-platform titles would often perform better on the Xbox than the PS3 because developers would sometimes offload the PS3 developement onto another company to deal with it (Valve did that with the Orage Box for consoles).

The PS3, though, has the CELL CPU architecture when, once learned, can allow devs to make up for it's shortcomings in memory (more aggressive streaming) and GPU (I think devs offload some graphics calculations onto the CPU because of the weaker PS3 RSX card). That's why you end up with such beautiful titles on the PS3 such as Killzone, Uncharted 3, Final Fantasy 13, and The Last of us. Also, everybody having a mandatory harddrive allows devs to require mandatory installs to make up for the slower disc drive (the Xbox has a faster one).

This sometimes doesn't help, though, like in games such as Rage (which uses aggressive streaming for it's Mega-texture technology) where even though the PS3 had a mandatory install, the xbox still had less pop-in due to it simply having a faster disc drive (and that was without even having installed it in the xbox hard-drive).

One more thing that matters is the disc capacity. It sometimes ends up not being Xbox vs. PS3 but DVD vs. Blu-Ray. The PS3 can simply hold higher quality data (texture, sound, video, etc.) and more of it on it's larger capacity disc.

So, in the end, it all comes down to the developers and how much time they want to invest in either consoles inner-workings.

EDIT: One more thing, people like to say that the xbox has 512 MB of ram. That number is a bit deceptive being that the ram is shared with the OS so at any time, its more like 480 MB of free ram.

TL;DR : They both have their advantages/disadvantages.

You know what ...they should wait for a console release till the new gen is avialable.
So everyone would get the best out of their hardware... making a high end piece of tech for a 7 year old console is like throwing a stone into a engine. It will be a compromise once again.. And Pc modders have to save the day once more.

In fan PS3 circles goes the fable that the Cell is able to "help? RSX, taking on the part of the rendering.

To understand why this is nothing more than a funny story, you need to look at the table in the photo from the presentation of PS3-devkit for developers.

Image

It shows that the Cell is capable of reading data from memory at a speed of 16 megabytes per second. That is, in fact, in terms of reading video memory for the Cell does not exist .. as a channel to it in a half thousand Times narrower than conventional memory ... From Where!.. processor take the data for rendering?

About Killzone, Uncharted 3, Final Fantasy 13, and The Last of us...

That What you see it is Art style..not more polygons, better textures and etc..FM4 have more polygons on car than GT5 have..1 million if i am correctly remember..and what? GT5 still looks better.. because better and more realistic Art style by artists ..but some tracks looks better in FM4..

All power goes to the GPU..but GPU better on xbox 360 this is fact..

but PS360.. both are obsolete right now..

This topic should be in off-topics...
