Xbox360 Region code?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:53 am

I finally got my copy of Brink in the mail today from Amazon. I was excited to play, but the moment I put the disc in, I got an error message saying the disc's region code didn't match my console's!! I live in Japan, and thus have a Japanese region code on my xbox, but I'm more than a little disappointed about this. I guess I should have ordered Brink from Amazon.co.jp rather than Amazon.com. Now I've got to return the game and wait for a refund :(

Aw :( That svcks!

Amazon is a great deal though... I pre-ordered for $40 plus free release day shipping!
Hope you get to play the game soon, and hopefully Amazon will realize where you live in order to send you the game with the right regional code!

And yes ordering off amazon.com.jp should have been a better idea... (didn't know it existed lol ^^')

Yeah, I did a bit of research and found out that if I get the Japanese version of the game, they will have isolated P2P. So if I get that, I can only play with Japanese people, and Xbox360 is already an unpopular console here. There's an Asia version, too, but I have no idea what the restrictions on that version.

I have lost hope for this game now. The concentration of players for this game is clearly in the US and Europe, none of which I would be able to play with from Asia. The fact that the game is region locked is understandable since they use P2P connections for online play. However, I have a feeling that the regions in Asia don't have nearly as many supporters, and this game is going to fail miserably from a lack of players in my region. People in Japanese forums are already saying they won't buy this game because the online play will be domestically restricted.

Region lock doesn't prevent you from playing online against others from out of your region...

it just means you can't grab a US copy and play it in a Japanese XBox.

Almost all XBox games are Region coded, almost no PS3 games are. Mainly because the original release PS3s weren't given region coding (which means my 60GB console can play region coded games I shouldn't normally be able to run)

Well that's a relief! I guess I'll just get the Asia version instead of the Japanese version.
