xEdit: Meaning of Perk Condition Tab Count & PRKC - Run

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:42 am

I'm working on fixing perks for my mod Simple Bug Fixes, and it's really important I know what these two records actually do. I tried to look at the documentation and it wasn't very clear.

Edit: Also wouldn't mind knowing about Parameter, which always seems to be -1

I see, I hadn't actually looked through these yet, been more focused on interface, textures and sounds. I can take a look through now, hopefully someone produces the answer before.

I suspected PRKC Run On was more or less who the perk is applied to i.e. subject = target.

Had to double check on the former, then found this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3044574-need-help-understanding-some-tes5edit-terms/

And this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1138885-moddingcreating-trouble-with-multiple-conditions/

And quite a few more where your troubles are spoken about, hope this helps.

Perk Condition Tab Count means exactly this - the number of pagecontrol tabs visible in CK when you edit a perk. I have no idea what does it mean exactly or how it should be properly named instead.

I had already found those google results, I'm afraid. It doesn't really do a good enough job of explaining it.

Thank you, now I just need to know about the other one.

I'm pretty sure the "Run On" field is what tells the mod which of the tabs the conditions should be placed in. In the CK, these tabs are contextual depending on the Entry Point you're using and control whether the condition applies to things like the player, the player's weapon, the target, etc.

Editing perks in xEdit is pretty tricky because of this (no criticism of xEdit) - you need to know what the tabs are but you don't have the CK's interface to put a name on them and they change depending on the effect.

So if PRKC 0 is player, 1 is player's weapon, that makes 2 target I guess?

Well it depends - some effects have 3 tabs. I'd guess that the player is always one. Then, if the effect involves a weapon, the weapon would be the second and the target the third. I'm writing this from memory, not having looked at the CK in over a year, so don't rely on that info! Open up Skyrim's CK and take a look, if you have it.

Unfortunately I don't have Skyrim installed any more, otherwise I'd take a look myself. But if you go here: http://www.creationkit.com/Perkyou'll see a screenshot of the dialogue box for a perk. When you go to edit one of the Entry Points in that screen, under Perk Entries, the dialogue that opens should have condition tabs that apply to the items I mentioned (player, target, etc.). The "Run On" value is a numerical index for those tabs - again, as far as I understand. I could be wrong.

Edit: Just to clarify, the "Run On" field I'm referring to is actually called "PRKC - Run On (Tab Index)" in xEdit. There is also a field just called "Run On" which is different.
