XO1 Armour makes the game too easy?

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 11:57 am

Or is it me? I recently acquired some XO1 Power Armour, it was a damn tough fight to get it, since I've been playing through on hardcoe mode, the fight involved a couple of insanely tough robots, and when I got it I was really excited and I thought the game would be a "reasonable" challenge. I am currently level 45, with no perks invested in damage reducing abilities etc, and what's more, I have just found a legendary Gauss Rifle, and all I can say is "wow".. it literally drops anything, and everything in the game without fail.

My PA can take a substantial beating before it gives in, it's fully modified, I even tanked a suicide bomber directly to the face whilst under heavy fire from a legendary mutant and a master supermutant, aswell as the usual drabble that tags along with them. No meds involved, I'm not really complaining I guess, I just didn't expect a suit of armour, as iconic as it is, to well, make me feel abit broken. I have since parked it in my PA bay, with the others, and play the game without it, lol. Anyone else feel the same?

Mine's only partially built. Can't even remember where I picked it up but I got 4/6 pieces at once. I'm just about to start using it a bit more since I upped my fusion's lifespan but I probably don't see the full use of it seeing as I stealth my way through. I love jumping off things though.

I think that's kind of the point, the Enclave designed it to be superior to other power armors in every way of course it's going to be extremely useful.

Even an upgraded t-60 makes the game too easy and you get that fairly quick for free. It's like skyri'ms armor exploit, but the game does it for you this time.

Go unarmed against a mirelurk queen! But yea it is a bit overpowered even on hardcoe.

It certainly is a step-up from T60 variants.

Yeah, I've since left it in my home, I imagine there'll be a time when I do need it, but as it stands the game is far to easy using it. The only thing that gave me a little bit of trouble was a Mirelurk Queen, and that was pretty much just all radiation damage I believe, but they're too few and far between to wear it.

Game gets very easy without the armor with the right build.

I have four sets of power armor - all sitting in their own bays at Sanctuary, doing nothing. I find the fusion core power restriction makes me not want to use power armor, because it makes me not want to meander around the wasteland, burning through cores (which is a little silly, because I think I have about 30 cores in my inventory). I just don't like having that fuel resource in the back of my mind, so I'm saving them for tough fights, and for essentially decorating my settlement - because they look cool just sitting there.

They do look good, and I like how different it is using them, but I just don't see a use for them most of the time. I have a hazmat suit for rads and generally manage quite well using cover so I just don't need power armour most of the time.

It's the same in FO2 and FOT. FO3 and NV are the low standards for power armors.

I found a second X-01 Power Armor (partial) on a quest so I know have a complete set leaded to handle the glowing sea and four other sets (at my main base), the T-45, T-60, Raider Armor and a frame (currently has some T-60 parts on it) for the T-51 when I find one.

I only really use the Power Armor for specific main story quest fights, althrough if I continue to get the frames and parts at this rate I'm thinking of settting them up at the different settlements for use in protecting the settlements.

I`ve only used PA once and that was my T60 set for trundling across the Glowing Sea, other than that it sits in Sanctuary - minus the fusion core obviously B)

My guy just runs around in a Gunner harness, army helmet and polymer combat armor, he looks like something from the Vietnam war :P

Of-course it does, it's literally the est fighting suit in the wasteland and I'm actually grateful that Bethesda remembered that this time. Could have remembered that in Fallout 3 mind-you but that's all over now.

id consider all power armour OP if werent for the fact that the legs seem to take the most damage and are usually the first pieces to be destroyed.

Are there any mods to increase the defence stats of normal armors, and decrease the ones of power armors?

Fair few saying how it's "OP". Hopefully Bethesda doesn't take this to heart and try to "balance" it or anything

Sure its OP. Its a [censored] Power Armor for gods sake.

I personally never use mine but this will change as soon as there is a mod wich enables the use of the Powerfist in combination with PA.

I think it was Fallout 1 that had something called Combat Armor. That seemed to be a good balance between the over powered Power Armor and regular armor. It was difficult to get, but if you knew how, obtainable within the first few hours of playing.

If you read the information on PA, it is supposed to turn a squad of soldiers into a squad of walking tanks, able to absorb as much damage as (literally) a battle tank, each, while dealing massive amount of damage. The whole purpose of PA is to make you into Iron Man + The Hulk.

Just used my Leaded X-01 Power Armor to cross the glowing sea and unlike my earlier uses of the T-45 or T-60 (in other areas), it made it through intact.....so yeah without checking any stats the X-01 PA is very OP, but as others have said its supposed to be and 99% of the time I don't use any Power Armor so when I do, I want it to be OP. That is kinda the point of PA after all, its supposed to to the user into a walking tank.
