Yay or nay: the sprint thing in Skyrim?

I don't see how the addition of a sprint function can be a bad thing. Just adds more to the gameplay, and makes sense.

Meh. It all comes down to one issue - whether movement speed will be variable or fixed. If movement speed is variable, then sprint will add another layer of variety to it. If movement speed is fixed, then it'll be a lousy substitute and a step backwards.

Makes perfect sense to me. Oblivion speed was ridiculous, lots of fun but really daft, Fallout seemed like a crawl at times. If they have the fallout system, speed based on armour, throw other encumbrance into the mix, and have a sprint that tires you out fairly quickly, but can be used tactically ( Mass Effect had the right idea, regardless of what you think of the execution ), then should be nothing to complain about.
Oh, and a bit of racial variation definitely wouldn't hurt.

This
Nothing wrong with sprint but it doesn't replace some characters being faster than others

I'm happy that sprint is included. I like the idea of getting attacked by a pack of wolves, realising I won't be able to finish the fight and sprinting to a cliff edge, diving into a lake below to escape. :)

I like the sprint function for combat tactical reasons, but I hope the speed attribute is still important for my character's speed.

Undecided, I'll need more info on it before I can make a decision as to whether it's good or bad.

I'm welcoming the sprint feature. Makes things more tactical and even realistic.

I'm only in favor of a sprinting if it comes with a consequence, such as reducing your stamina . . . AND if the NPCs/Creatures can also sprint. Otherwise it is just another thing that unbalances the game by giving the PC yet another advantage.

oh I can care less, believe you me.

So you're saying you do actually care about sprinting in Skyrim, but not enough to expand on your opinion further than mentioning that you care? :/
(people are weird)

I too care about this issue. I could care more...

I am stating that I don't care about the issues brought foward as much as I should, this comment doesn't need to be delved into further...

There's one thing that I do hope that Beth doesn't do with Sprinting and that's have it be like the Sprinting in Borderlands. I hated that feature in that game, mainly the clicking the button to run was the bigger problem but with the ability to set our controls in Skyrim I'm not worried about that problem in Skyrim. My only worry is how will this mechanic work gameplay wise so I'll have to wait for more info before making a decision as to if Sprinting will be good for the game or bad for the game.

Gotcha.

Well then as Gloomweaver suggested - the expression you were initially looking for was 'couldn't care less'.

Then we would have avoided all this confusion over how much you care :)

All in favor of the sprinting. One thing I haven't found any clear mention of, though - is sprinting the replacement for running, or will it be a third method after walking (obviously in) and ordinary "jogging" runs? I'd find it a bit odd, personally, if the majority of close-quarters battles occurred at walking pace, even if that is a bit more historically realistic.

I love moving around in Daggerfall because of that illusion, and I'm hoping that feeling is what's translated into Skyrim.

This is one thing I adore about older games. Generally, movement speed is much faster and slicker than it is in newer games.

The addition of this I think will make charging a lot better against mages/archers, and make chasing someone running A LOT easier.
