It sounds very good. It will make the game feel less clunky... which is what I think of past Bethesda games.

Sounds like it will add to combat versatility. I see it as playing the role that the Redguard's Adrenaline Rush played in Oblivion (for me): Fortify Speed when I was getting my ass kicked.

I like the sound of it. Hopefully they'll throw in some gaps that you need to sprint jump to cross.

Sounds meh, I'll give it a chance before I condemn it.

On a side note - don't you think nine threads in one day is a bit much? I'm glad you're having a good time participating in the discussion, but your threads are popping up faster than pimples on a teenage boy who just rubbed his face in pizza grease.

Now, now. Don't take it the wrong way, most of your posts are constructive (at least compared to other discussions that slip by the mods here), it's just that I don't have enough time to respond to one of your ideas before two more pop up. There's no rush, we still have six months.

It sounds good to me, if it's done well, though obviously, I can't say for certain if it will be until the game is released. My suspicion is that normal running will be like in Oblivion in that it doesn't drain stamina, while sprinting does (And a lot more quickly than running reduced fatigue in Morrowind.), therefore, sprinting is good for giving you quick but short burst of speed, such as if you want to run away from an enemy.

Does anyone else remember how Daggerfall had two movement modes? While it technically had walking and running as in future games, due to running needing to be manually activated by pressing down a button and due to the fast movement speed of Daggerfall, walking always felt like just normal running while actual running always felt like sprinting, to me. I love moving around in Daggerfall because of that illusion, and I'm hoping that feeling is what's translated into Skyrim.

It should be very unique and good.

Yes...I'm currently playing Daggerfall. I agree with you on this statement. But Daggerfall had unlimited run. So...I hope Skyrim will be a bit faster than Daggerfall.

meh, depends on if the speed of sprint and walking are locked to one setting through out the game. if we can still increase speed that hooray! sprint will just be adding something more to the game which I am all for.

I think with Acrobatics and athletics being gone the sprint idea is a good one.

Also, increasing Daggerfall's running speed is incredibly easy. Once I get it high enough with any character, I just feel so free while running at those superhumanly high speeds. There is something strange about speed that just makes me feel free, and so it's always nice to be able to move quickly in a video game, in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to it...if it works as well as sprint in halo reach then it could be a very useful tool.

I don't think it really adds too much here or there. I did like the first person sprint animation in the trailer, though. Looked very natural and rugged. I wonder if weight will affect sprinting; it should.

if anything sprinting in video games like this is good!, usually they (game developers) make you walk really slow to make the game world seem bigger when its only actually really small e.g. morrowind. So running means that skyrim has a bigger map size than tes 3 and 4 so running = winning

Sounds good. We have it in Arma2 by double tapping the run key to initiate a sprint, which will hopefully be improved even further with upcoming Arma3's use of encumber system.
