Year 170

....I remember the year, 2078... kind of hard to forget when you are one of a handful that were alive during the time. Even after it's nearly been two years, I remember 2078 to well. It was the day that two of the World's most powerful empires went to war. The day that they decided it was time to end the world....

...Or so The Enclave would have the population believe. Sure, what was once known as America and China waged a war unlike any other. Yes, it was the quickest war ever waged in the history of mankind. Indeed, it had the most highest in lives ended. And it was perhaps the most anticipated event that humanity has ever known... but what caused this war?

Was it the need for resources? Or perhaps a False-Alarm that had to great a consequence. That is what the propaganda says to you, right? That is what the American Government wants you all to believe... but me? I know the truth. After all, I worked for those [censored]s when it all went down in 2078. When World War III was ignited. When someone fired the first nuke... when billions of lives came to a sudden end.

I was in a Black Ops division of the military at the time, stationed somewhere in Maryland that is now a smoking crater. A massive underground bunker known only as The President's Wine Cellar. Inside, funded from the tax dollars of the proud people of America, many experiments were going on. Test with medicine, test with weapons, and test with genetics... the President of America, whom I don't really care much to remember anymore was looking for a weapon that could kill off the armies of his enemies from the inside, with little to no casualties on our part.

He got his wish. The good scientist of The President's Wine Cellar created a virus code-named Black Liberty. The effects of it were... horrifying. It destroyed pieces of the human brain while causing it's blood flow to increase and emit pain in every part of the body possible, while causing great regeneration for bones and skin. The parts of the human brain that survived destruction signaled the body to do one thing. Kill everything that was warm and not mutated beyond human. And the best part? The [censored] thing was spreadable thanks to some Lab Rats running loose and biting anything they could.

Of course, if any idiot read a comic book every once in a while, or in this case looked the enviroment they lived in, then they would know this does not end well... not for the U.S.A. Not for the World. As it turns out, a well-trusted general of the President betrayed him along with sixty soldiers. The Wine Cellar fell under heavy attack, the General got ahold of Black Liberty. Then, whether to make a point, whether to deceive the public, or some other selfish intention, the bastard decided to release it into the city of Baltimore.

The virus spread at rapid rates through the train stations and streets... reports were coming in to the Pentagon of epidemics occuring in small towns outside the city to, the Virus already spreading into other parts of Maryland. He had the choice of letting a few thousand people have a chance at running, or save the entire country. He chose the latter...

I have no idea how China and the other countries got involved and decided to nuke us, but I do know one thing.... I should of died that day. When I was shooting my Assault Rifle in Baltimore with three of my friends, rats biting at my ankles and my vision getting dizzy, that was when the nuke went off. All I saw was a massive flash, then I passed out of consciousness after feeling massive pain rip through my arms and legs... the trouble was. For some reason, I woke up.

Woke up to see so many buildings gone... so many collapsing. The charred bodies of my friends and the bones for my hand were all I saw at first. Then as my vision dimmed, as the skin on my arm began to peel away, I looked up and saw landing near me a Virti-Bird, men with guns and equipment that seemed to be injecting fluid into them to prevent death from radiation running toward me and my companions. I raised my bony hand... one saw me.. and I passed out.

I passed out for a very long time, while the world around me met it's end. And when I woke up... well...

My name is Richard Greeves. This is a very inaccurate telling of how World War Three went down, from what little I can put together of it. There is little I can tell anyone on the details, for I do not know them... however, there is plenty on what I can say about what happened 170 years later.

I woke up. And I was angry...
