4 years and this still hasn't been fixed?!

4 long years and the Invisibility Spell bug STILL hasn't been fixed!?! I understand that some bugs are hard to discover and fix but this one has literally been staring at you for years and no one has done anything about it?! What Really angers me is the fact that an ordinary and unpaid modder has made a mod for the pc version that fixes the issue, and according to him and I quote: "It took me only a few minutes to repair the not working invisibility related nif file, ahh come on bethesda" Are you kidding me? A FEW MINUTES? I wouldn't be angry if I had a pc that could run Skyrim, but I don't. I'm a console player and OF COURSE we get the short end of the stick. I DEMAND a patch soon for consoles that fixes this dumb bug!

It doesn't really matter how much you "demand" it, Bethesda has moved on from Skyrim a few years ago, so there won't be anymore patches.
That is the reason why old bugs get left unfixed.

This isn't just a bug to me, it's more like a symbol of Bethesda's laziness -_-

But like I said.... They stopped making patches for the game.

They chose to focus their energy on new projects instead.

Yes, it can be frustrating to still encounter bugs, but complaining that "it's been 4 years" doesn't mean anything if they stopped patching the game long ago.
It would only be lazy if they promised more patches but never delivered.

And like I said, Us console gamers are always getting the short end of the stick. On pc if there is a bug with skyrim with most cases you can always find a mod that fixes it or fix it yourself, us console gamers don't have that luxury. Plus what's the point of these forums if bethesda doesn't care?

For your argument, we can say that PC players and console players get the exact same game in the box. There is no short end of any sticks. Everyone is playing the same content with the same team of people ready to correct quality control.

But user made mods/patches are not allowed on consoles, because Sony and Microsoft does not allow them.
Maybe you should let Sony and MicroSoft know that it annoys you  because the devs don't really have any say in that.

Bethesda pays attention to all sorts of feedback, especially concerning something that needs patching. But they don't patch Skyrim anymore for the same reason they don't patch Morrowind anymore.... They moved on to other projects.

This might be what it is. At least this is what is on the uesp if you look for invisibility spell glitch. One of the unofficial patches for pc fixes it, but those aren't available to consoles.

  • When viewed in first person prior to casting, the Invisibility spell seems to lack the "shimmering" effect of other spells, and instead appears as a dark, translucent "blob" in the palm of your hand. This does not, however, affect the spell itself in any form, and is purely aesthetic.
  • Eyes on the player in third person may lose their texture and have cartoonish spirals as a result of turning invisible.
    • Saving and exiting the game or reloading from the main menu seems to fix this. Using the console on PC to readjust your race also seems to fix this.

Well, at least it works...even with those cosmetic glitches.

I wouldn't say, that's a game breaking bug.

That's whats dumb tho, if it is just a simple aesthetic bug why hasn't it been fixed? I realize Bethesda will never release another patch for the game but why didn't this bug get fixed when they were patching the game?

You will have to contact Bethesda directly to find that out as nobody here knows the answer. Don't hold your breath while you wait for a reply though.

Because sometimes fixing one minor issue causes large problems somewhere else. Anyone remember the patch that needed a hotfix because something in the patch made the dragons fly backwards?
