According to the wiki, slavery was outlawed by Morrowind's king in 3E 433.

It's cool and at times intectually stimulating to discuss the Skyrm Civil War, but man, some of you are just way too quick to bring real world politics into it and wave the racist card around. It's just a game with a fictional lore.

It's like some of you are offended by the Stormcloaks not wanting other races in their land. Same goes for the Dunmar too. It's ok to have fictional races that don't follow 21st Century morality.

Some people do take this story and it the issues it raises very personally, don't they?

Perhaps, yes there was that rumor in Oblivion, but just a few years later

Spoiler
the red mountain erupted and shortly after that the Argonians brutally invaded

, which events would have been something the dunmer could have anticipated in 433 based on events of TES 3, everyone knew the ministry of truth was likely coming down with potentially disastrous consequences. So, I don't think the outlawing slavery was done for altruistic reasons, but rather an attempt to appease the growing threat from Black Marsh.

Nevertheless, even if the outlawing of slavery was voluntary, the point still stands that the general outcry against "racism" in Skyrim in 2011-2015 dwarfs any voices that were raised against the Dunmer's racism and slavery back on 2002. There was certainly not the widespread hate for Dunmer back in the Morrowind days of 2002-2006 like what we see against the far more benign Stormcloaks nowadays.

Short thing about racism: If you think, a Dunmer has no own opinion, and always agree to the law given by the great authority for Dunmer, your are a racist! :P

Solitude has no Dunmer or Argonians like Windhelm, so we can not say how they would thread there. Only thing we know: The Khajit are not allowed inside.

This make is our role-play, if they would be threaded there better or worse.

Longer thing about racism:

There is the kapitalism point of view: Your worth is the amount of coin you would get as credit from the bank! One of many alternatives is the racical point of view: Your blood defines your worth!

If a beggar tells a women from the (middle-)management why he things he is more worth than she, of course he prefers the world-view of a racist. He has to, or kill himself (do the black sacrament for himself)...

But is that the view of Ulfric? Perhaps, but perhaps he just want to win the civil-war. As long a the Dunmer don't support him, he won't wast Soldiers for them.

That's the point I want to yell at the Dunmer: Support your Jarl! If you can't, move where you can do it!

As mentioned before in this thread:

A lot of my characters to join the Stormcloaks after finishing the quest 'Missing in Action'.

Some swear to kill Tullius in the moment their head is on the block.

Others want to support the allies of the Thief's-Guild.

Most want to be come the shadow-regent and only thing about who is more easy to manipulate: Ulfric or Elisif?

5 years later and I realize I spent a lot of time trying to justify one of two completely subjective choices.

Let me get this straight: bigotry is more offensive to you than murdering people for money?
