Yes, the game looks cool , but...

Post » Thu Sep 08, 2011 6:26 pm

All we saw so far is pure hack&slash like in any other game..
Don't get me wrong, game looks beautiful with landscapes, dragons, interesting combat, but what about other features game can offer?

I've been killing monster, trading their equipment, doing quests (again about killing) 792437696298746 times already.

Sick of the same gameplay over and over, maybe its time to bring singleplayer expirience on whole new level ?

Whole new level ? What i'm talking about? ->

-Player housing (Being able to buy/rent house/farm, decorate it, live in it, use it as a shelter or simply roleplaying)

-Jobs (not talking about crafting with mats just by standing still and doing nothing)
Seriously, crafting is old. Maybe i want to work in tavern, bringing some beer for hot chicks or as a barmen.
Tons of what to do, just some imagination and here it is, working and alive.

Hunter: Stalking in shadows, seeking for a new meat or furs. (deers, rabbits, boars anyone?)

Opening trading shops, selling some junk at city's?

... Enjoying life as a farmer , smoking some weed at late nights after hard day ?

And the last... Why i cant sit on chair, drink some beers, eat tasty meat and look at my character while doing so... Isn't this is what we all want so bad at our hearts in terms of RPG gameplay ? Make the game alive...

Bit of rant, peace <3

You can do all of that except for open a trading post.. and smoking weed.

Farming, cooking, woodcutting, and smithing jobs are in game, you could always sit and drink beer, you could always have your own house, and you could always hunt.

If you're bored of hack and slash just try bows or magic or sneaking. Not the games fault for your lack of trying new things.

What makes a better hype video?

A.
"I saw a mudcrab the other day. Nasty creatures."
-Rumors-
"I saw a mudcrab the other day. Nasty creatures."

or

B.
GIANT DRAGON ATTACKING

So yeah. TES has always been action and combat-oriented. That's the main focus of gameplay in the series. You talk to people, they give you quests to go out and fight.

I understand what you're saying, but it looks to me that you're looking more for some sort of life simulator. RPG's are built upon adventuring, getting treasure, and solving problems - that is the profession, not crafting, farming, etc.

I'm leary that this game is going to be too combat and/or simulator oriented (woohoo we can cook  ). However, for me hte solution is to build up the story, quests and other "mind" aspects, which are from RPG's tradition and why I like them.

How can you criticize a game you know literally nothing about? You can do virtually all those things.

Just because we haven't seen it in the clips so far doesn't mean it's not in there. The open world, do what you want style of TES has been in every title, and Skyrim won't be any different. I don't think you can open your own shop or actually grow food (though you could RP as a farmer), but you can do pretty much all of that list. If you want to spend a week away from questing, just drinking in the bars and stumbling home, you can. Wanna stalk in the shadows hunting game? You can do it! :) It's all there for you.

Hunt deer, collect hides, tan hides, make hide armour. What's not to like? Find ore, mine ore, melt ore into metal ingots, make metal armour.

Oh god. Get some info before complaining about non-existant issues. The only things you cant do are smoking, working in the tavern(i think),and seeing your char eating and drinking. And by the way, there's an animation for smithing and woodcutting. Dunno about cooking, mining and enchanting but.. y'know, you can do almost everything you want, not to mention mods.
