Yes, it's time...

I think the problem with spears is that they could be used to hit an enemy at any range with no disadvantage in Morrowind. Realistically the tip should be the real threat of the weapon so if someone gets really close the person with the spear should have a harder time using it without creating some space.

I really do not care for spears, to be honest

Yeah, seriously. Enough with the spear threads.

While many people do not care for them, I do. They were by far my favorite weapon in New Vegas, both throwing and melee versions. Same with Morrowind, I only used spears in that game, with an exception of the Iron Sparksword we get early on.

I'll say this. If BGS wants to make a DLC that will be bought by pretty much everyone, make a DLC that adds spears, crossbows and throwing weapons.

Oh come on. I just couldn't resist.
Even the devs will start laughing seeing another spear thread :celebrate:

I bet there is like one spear randomly placed somewhere with a note saying "Well here is your spear, hope you like it."

I want to make a mod that adds spear wielding creatures to the game (that have special unique spears that can't be looted) :chaos:

As far as I know, spears arent popular at all really. No1 who started off playing elder scrolls on xbox 360 or ps3 will care about spears or even know they existed and consoles combined are the majority

pickpocketing came back after a two title hiatus. There's is plenty of hope for spears. Acrobatics, and climbing for that matter as well. Hopefully under one omni-mobility skill.

In fact todd thought about spears in Skyrim but theres wasn't enough time or resources to do it right so they settled on a more limited, albiet polished and balanced weapon layout.

I will be happy very happy when they just add and add content instead of take away and add.

Are they really so popular? I've never seen the attraction myself.

I'm not 100 percent sure as to why Beth never includes them in ES but I think it has something to do with them "not fitting in with the game world" or something along those lines.

Quality over quantity, I guess.

Personally, i'm of the opinion that quantity and more player choice should take priority over quality and polish in a TES game... but whatever.

Argonians seem like they would use spears, and there's Hircine.

Lots of people think the character presets look savage...

The spear still doesn't seem fitting for lots of characters though.

Spears are just daggers with too much handle.

Here are a couple of reasons not to include them - all that reach is like an "I win" button for melee combat. And that goes both ways. Imagine an enemy poking you with a spear and you can't get close enough to hit back. Annoying.

Play Mount & Blade: Warband - mod cRPG then get back to me on that.

Polearms were very popular for fighting, especially among Nordic types...even more than the fantasy axes everyone seems to love... :ahhh:

Their were spears in Morrowind, didn't really see any of them though.

It also wouldn't be hard for them to do the animation with them, as they would just need to use the Oblivion staff animation with some tweaks.

It's peanut butter jelly time

Look, I get that spears are a specialised weapon group and that it makes no sense they are gone, I'm a little dissapointed myself. But I'd rather have no spears than crappy tacked on spears.

They could make it strictly throwing, so they/you dont have an unfair advantage.
