Thought Bethesda might want to know about this.

I'm no lawyer, but they aren't making any one pay for the mod directly. They are just looking to pay the voice actors. Not that they're going to get $10,000 in 14 days, but still.

Of course, they definitely are using Bethesda assets in their Kickstarter video, and I imagine that's not going to sit well with Bethesda.

You're not allowed to profit off of them at all. No Patreon account, no crowdfunding of any kind allowed. Bethesda said as much to Robin Scott, founder of the Nexus.

Profit != paying voice actors. Heck, if they really wanted, they should just make a Kickstarter page for their "Internet Radio" project and release the sound files for free so that a "modder" could put them into a mod for FO4.

Well, the sticking point here is that they are taking the money first and that's making it a requirement for the mod.

Donations are fine, because they are purely optional, the mod doesn't rely upon them and they occur after mod release.

And with modders already releasing extra radio stations, including ones with new voice acting (See Cadillac Jack';s Radio Shack), it's a bit optimistic hoping for people to pony up.

Hahaha, like anyone actually donates to mods.

And I'm certain that Bethesda's lawyers already have a C&D heading their way right now. There are just numerous ways that they could have gotten around that "no crowdfunding" bit.

He is correct, you are not allowed to fund raise for mods like this. Bethesda has in the past shut down similar cases.
