Yet Another Take on Daggerfall/Arena Videos

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 12:38 am

So basically I wish we could resurrect the happy old times when people used to post their gameplay videos here. I tried searching for old video threads, but I figured out I might just start a new one.

Anyway, I made a brief experimental video advising beginners on how to create magic-focused characters. I plan on doing more later as I play...

Oh and no laughing! I know the voice acting was quite imperfect. I'm just not used to do it. :P

yeah i find these homey tutorials good for starters. I myself devote to studying how things work (including exploits :) ) and try to build a lasting character.

Curiously, I am playing a pure mage (High Arcanist). I always go for the MINIMUM health point though (part of the challenge), place strangth and endurance at 25 (so he gets only around 30-35 after dice rolls)....

The only thing I dont do is going above 100 in attributes, i hated to learn you could do that due to that small add-on, coz for me this messes with my notion of balance. Which is critical to enjoy any build....

If you don't want to overdo balance, then don't abuse enchantments. All the rest seems fair game to me.

I've seen people who absolutely destroys Luck, so they can put the points in something else, is luck really that useless?

Not really. Don't overdo it; I think you can live with less than 20 personality though.

Yet another video!

from the wiki:

"Luck is a small modifier to any action you take.
There are no skills in which luck is the primary attribute, but your odds of succeeding in any skill trial is modified by your luck.
Luck also modifies loot."

It's not that it's useless, but that it's effect isn't as easily noticed as a few points in another statistic. It also won't cripple you to have less of it, if another statistic needs just a few more points. So it often gets neglected.

Okay, well when I made my mage, I did take a lot of stuff out of personality as well, both because the points then can be used in something else, but also because I thought of my mage as a loner, who's introverted.

Thats a good rp-reason. All my mages have crappy STR, END and AGI. Sometimes even SPE - I often see them as some sort of Saruman kind of Wizard.
