Yet another thread asking recommendations for what race and

Yes, I'd bet there are 1000 of these threads, but that's what I would like from you. What race (male), and what traits to start? I am wanting to play something fairly easy the first time through. I started a mage 8 years ago but never finished, wasn't having fun, and hit a quest bug W/Caius quest (if I remember right). I didn't use any wiki back then, didn't have enough info for tips on gameplay - we even were limited to DIAL-UP Internet back then! I don't want to play an argonian, Orc, nor Khajiit; nor do I want to play a thief-type nor assassin (this time). You should know that in Skyrim I really love sneaking, I can't remember sneaking in Morrowind. It may be important to keep in mind my mods, IDK, I tried to leave out most gameplay changing mods:

Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon v.1.6.1820. Modded in this order:
Exe modded: MCP 2.0 (19510, lots of options checked), MGE 3.8.0 (includes MSE), 4GB mem patch.
Wyre Mash (85) Fork v 2100.05.11 (the latest non-dev ver). Mods installed and ordered in "mods" tab using filename dates, per BTB list (below).
BTB mods list, skipped most of the gameplay changing stuff, had to use slightly different versions of a couple of mods bc of availability issues. Set to BTB load order. Includes MPP 1.6.5b.

BTB mod list, these things installed, ordered as such in "mods" tab where allowed:
MPP 1.6.5b.
Better bodies 2.2
LizTail's New Beast Bodies (33)
Better heads
Better clothes
More Better Clothes by Plangkye
Darknut's Weapon Textures
Darknut's Armor Textures
Darknut's Creature Textures (so far only installed Morrowind)
Better dieties (Azura, Almalexia, and Vivec god)
Visual pack (mvp-30rc1)
Connary's textures (could not get 2nd half of "Connary's Bsa")
Mesh Improvements v 1.7.1
Correct UV rocks v 10
Slartibartfast's texture fix v 2.0
Better books 1.0
Vurt's Hi-Res Menubook & Scroll Pack
Extreme Textures II (SpellFX)
Alternate Enchanted item icons
Oblivion septims
Realistic Blood v1.0
Weathered Signs 1.1
Herbalism For Purists (Pearl bug edit by BTB)
Quick Char 1.2

And I added these mods too:

Slof's better beasts 1.2.
Windows glow 2.2.
Animal realism (Animal Behaviour).

So, what race? What class? And under what sign, what skills, etc?
What type of weapons/armor is it better to specialize in at first?

For starters, I'd say don't overthink things. Nearly any character type can be made to work.

Anyway, so you're ruling out thief types, and no Orc/Khajiit/Argonian. So that leaves you with Nord, Imperial, Breton, Wood Elf, High Elf, Redguard or Dunmer as race, and warriors, mages or warrior-mage hybrids as class.

Overall you may as well just pick whatever combination appeals to you on theme grounds. Racial skill bonuses don't make a lot of difference in Morrowind, you don't need to try to match race skills to class skills. Similar goes for racial powers. If you think you're lacking in any area, you can just pick a suitable Birthsign to cover for it.

A word on pure mage types: you'll definitely want a Fortify Maximum Magicka ability from either Race (Breton or High Elf) or Birthsign (Mage, Apprentice or Atronach), if not both. It's a good idea to get a Fortify Maximum Magicka if you play a warrior-mage hybrid too.

This.
Best advice.

Combat classes are the easiest, and the more you detract from Combat the harder it gets, especially most Stealth skills.
A lot depends on how well you know the game. (since the start of the game can be very challenging) So some people want a unique character that needs a lot of work to be strong, and some people want a strong start at level 1.

Many players make 2 or 3 characters before finding what works for them. The start of the game requires a lot of patience, so it can take some serious gameplay before you know what you truly want. But, like mentioned above, any character can be made into a fun/strong playthrough.
