Yogurt

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 6:29 am

So recently I decided to try and mess with my diet a bit to help get in tip-top shape for the Air Force, and because I've become more conscious about what I eat lately. Therefore, instead of snacking on pop-tarts and ritz/cheese/ham, I switched to yogurt. I've always like it, but HOLY CRAP I am addicted now. I've been having two cups a day and I'm in love.

Ran out of fruit-at-the-bottom so I've been mixing random things with vanilla, like raisins and guava jelly. Anyone else here REALLY like yogurt? What kind do you guys prefer the most? Any good combinations I should try out?

Greek/strained yoghurt. Great for marinating meat. Also good in cake/muffin batters.

I. Love. Yogurt.

My favorite kinds:

Strawberry

Blueberry

Banana Cream Pie

Orange Creme

Raspberry Cheesecake

Key Lime Pie

Mango

Strawberry Cheesecake

Yum

Edit: I do hate greek yogurt though. I don't like the super thick stuff. And I really don't care for fruit on the bottom either, After I mix I usually get big chunks of fruit and big chunks of vanilla yogurt(gross).

"Skyr"
Icelandic yogurt (I think). Thick with proteins and very hipster.

Skyr isn't hipster, at least not here. It's alright.

I don't really like flavoured yogurt, so I mostly stick to the plain stuff. I love Turkish yogurt. :liplick:

I use the plain yogurts for food, and I usually mix it with garlic and salt. It's super simple, yet so delicious. If you disagree you're a heretic.

Back in the day, I would graze with 12 meals a day. that is the ideal means to health management. Alternating weeks with carb and no carb. High protein every day of every meal.

I became hooked on yogurt back then. I eat at least two servings every day now, as part of a natural blood pressure control.

Certain kinds. And I have to watch my intake. For the most part though yes.

I also have IBS so hypothetically if my stomach wants to be an [censored], on any given day food I can normally eat might randomly make me extremely ill.

9 out of 10 times I'd choose a quality Greek yogurt over ice cream. Ice cream!

Unless by "tub" you mean a bathtub, then that's not very impressive.

I could do a bathtub of yogurt actually sounds good but dear gawd the runs afterwords would be legendary. Actually I ment the 1 pound containers you can get at the store.

I haven't had cottage cheese in a very long time....use to put kool-aid [powder] in it when I was a kid.

I like yoghurt, however I also suffer somewhat from that lactose ordeal, so I can only eat minor quantities. Sometimes I have half a pot (the little pots that you get in 4 or 6 packs I mean) and add some fruit, like peach or pineapple. On a good day I can eat a whole pot.

We have a brand called "Lactofree" over here, I can eat a whole pot of that, but it's expensive so normally I don't bother.

I find most pre flavored yogurts to have way too much sugar in them. What I do is get plain yogurt, usually Greek Style, and I mix in a teaspoon or two of jam or preserves. Lemon Curd is another one. Even better is fresh fruit that you macerate yourself.

This way I can buy the quart size containers of plain, and make whatever flavor I want out of each serving.

I prefer this kind of yogurt. I often just eat kid friendly yogurt frozen, though. I gag easy, so I can't eat normal yogurt unless I want to fear gagging and waste time eating around the fruit. Normally love fruit, but don't like it in a blob of milk byproduct.

Don't forget that you can add yogurt to your cereals. Granola and yogut is classic.

Cherry Garcia is frozen yogurt, so as far as I am concerned counts as both; win-win.

In the UK, Rachel's Organic Vanilla is heaven in a tub.

I can take it or leave it. If I do eat it I get a simple Vanilla flavored one (plain is for making tzatsiki imo).

You can also add a spoon of yogurt to an overly spicy dish. Like curry or chili.

It kills the heat!
