You all have jaded poor Pete Hines!

Post » Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:41 am

I just thought you all should know that since the last time Pete tried to keep us up to speed on the release of the 3 HD Skyrim videos and got lynched over it, we will not be getting anymore updates from him re: any new possible Skyrim footage coming out (before the game's release). He will only inform us of anything (if it comes out) on the day it comes out.

Good. He shouldn't have given us a timeframe at all for the last video if he couldn't stick to it, people were right to be annoyed. It's better this way.

Don't blame it all on us, we're all just curious, but then again curiosity killed the cat... I think that translated wonderfully as a metaphor for what we did.

I agree, people should not tweet him every 2 minutes, leave the guy alone. And some people speak to him like [censored].....Out of order in my book.

Well....what's the PR guy's for if they are gonna tell everything on the day it's released....You could just possibly let us wander randomly into a game store and find a game by title "The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim" on the shelves on some random day without even announcing it.....

Makes sense. No point giving a timeline if there's a chance it won't be met, and even if he was to make it vague it would just lead to loads of pestering. Now we'll possibly have surprise news, which will be much more fun!

A pity, but understandable. People called him a liar simply because they went over the deadline they intended to make it before. There's a difference between setting a goal and not reaching it, and saying something knowing you wont do it. As long as there exist people who can't comprehend this, this is necessary.

As far as I know, Pete's in PR. Answering questions, helping promote the game, is basically what he gets paid for.

But personally I would probably also keep my mouth shut after the [censored]storm that hit him.

That's his job - to handle PR. You know.... PUBLIC RELATIONS.

If he can't cope with RELATIONS with the PUBLIC, then he should be fired and replaced with someone who can.

I'd prefer if Pete realized that the people who gave him hell for it would have found something to give him hell for anyway. There's a good number of forum goers who have the good grace not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Of course, if my day job involved people I don't even know shaking their fists at me and calling me (personally) a liar if my projects go over by a day or two... lord knows I'd probably feel just as cynical.

Do you also realize that's his "personal" tweet account?

To be honest.. when people are emotional about something it means they care. It would have been more concerning if people found it acceptable for him not to make his time frame.

...a little harsh said, but...right on the spot. If you are in charge of PR
for the biggest game this year, maybe/hopefully several years, you
need to be able to handle it and not be a QQ. If you are, you need
to be replaced.
