You're all missing the point of this game

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:06 pm

To all the people who are nerd raging about the lag issues or glitches. To all the people who are "This game is so easy! I'm only level 15 but I have level 100 smithing and enchanting and I 1 hit everything on master difficulty!"

The point of this game isn't to slay dragons, solve a political conflict or to become the head of any of the organizations; it's to catch butterflies. Stop and smell the red mountain flowers people! Armor is heavy and smells funny when it's wet. Robes get dingy and reeks of your spells. Get some fine clothes and frolic through the meadows, hills and river beds collecting flowers and chasing butterflies. If you can't make it home before dark it's ok! You can chase the beautiful Moths and Torchbugs that donate their beauty to the nighttime air. You can start a bug collection and display them in jars in your house and use the mannequin to design your favorite outfits!

So call down and stop sweating the small stuff.

All the people nerd raging are a minority group of a minority forum. It's not necessary to dedicate a thread to them. Also...the point of my game is to smell flowers and kill dragons.

Well if all you are doing is catching butterflies, you wouldn't do the quests for the Jarl of Whiterun, which means no random dragon encounters! =P

Wait, there's mannequins in the game? And you can hang your armor and clothes on it? Geez, I have been living under High Rock!

I hope you're being sarcastic, because that's the kind of thing I say when I am.

Go pick flowers. Yeah, ok, that's not a game.

...people complaining are what cause the next game to be better and motivates them to fix the current one when broken.

The point of TES games is in the viewpoint of the person playing it. Some take the time to stop and enjoy the view. Others don't. Both should be 100% viable without getting your experienced ruined by glitches and bugs lol.

Complaining serves a purpose. Why do people not get this?

Heh. I remember Morrowind where I basically had no choice but spend hours and hours picking flowers just to make any money. I kinda wish it wasn't so easy to get rich quick in Skyrim. It'd be lovely to have to spend time running after butterfly because you need to sell their lovely wings. Probably.

I spent so long doing that in Morrowind that I found myself wandering round in real life looking for plants I could pick and sell. Skyrim hasn't had that effect on me yet - if it does it'll probably be an instinctive reaction to run for cover when a dark shadow passes overheard...

No, I think he's quite serious. His point was that there is more to the game than simply min/maxing to create the Ultimate Skyrim Hero/Heroine That Can Own NPCs With One Hit.

Don't forget, getting used as a golf ball by that giant you angered by chasing that butterfly into his camp, or trying to sniff that red flower and having that wolf/saber cat bite your behind. Also that rare occasion of going for that (insert your own here) and having that bandit putting the proverbial arrow in your (insert body part here}.

Come on, we can do all of this. But the idea behind this is to save the world and kill dragons. After the word is safe we can take the time to enjoy more of life's simple pleasures.

Pretty much any game upon release is susceptible to exploitation. A single player game seems like it would be far more exposed to this threat than an MMORPG like WoW.

As it is, the game is easily challenging for someone. I play on default difficulty, have 95 smithing and 80 enchanting and I still have problems with some mages and melee npc's. This is only because I haven't decided to exploit dual wielding.

People who complain about something ruining the game, but continue playing that way are idiots. People who have exploited this and play another character but whine, should just stop crying. The game is what it is. It's not like you have to exploit it. I play a perfectly valid 1h class with a shield and experience challenges at default difficulty with some mobs, like I said.

The game, flaws and all, is what you make it out to be. If you save often and turn your head from exploitation, then your going to minimize complaints and/or problems.
