Do I appreciate Bethesda making Skyrim? No I don't. After all they are doing a buisness. What I appreciate Behtesda doing is having Arena and Daggerfall for free for us to download. I did buy them but lost them, so it was nice being able to replay these games that I no longer could. That I am thankfull for. But for making new products, no I am not thankfull.

Afterall I am not in their demographic anymore when they make thier games so why would I be greatfull for?

Why are you wasting your time here? Honestly. Beth's "demographic" = anyone who buys their games

Personally I love Beth and the team. Yes they are a business, however they make these games with a lot of love and attention and if they hadn't have tried to widen the appeal of them then we wouldn't have them anymore.

There are a lot of so called fans who despise everything Bethesda does because it isn't the exact same as before. Very broken base.

As like many, I tend to have a much more positive criticism when dealing with TES or Betheseda. I've only played TES series since Morrowind and I can honestly say I didn't think Skyrim would come out til 2012-13. So excited when I heard the release date is close to my Birthday. My girlfriend might just buy it for me!

Yes I do, and they gotta move with the times, which they are, no amount of whining is going to change that. I'm still just [censored] stoked we get another game. :celebration:

Don't sell yourself short; that's how they got the inspiration for corprus victims the last time. :hehe:

This explains quite a few things...

...and not all of them are about Bethesda's games.

Yes, more than words.

"if they do this, i will never buy another elder scrolls game again" and "Skyrim is a disappointment".

I can accept that. What boggles my mind is why they have created accounts and logged into Bethesda's forums? Losers

I do not appreciate any companies.

I do, however, appreciate the work the devs do, and their passion.

A bit awkward to answer. On the one hand, I'm among the more positive posters and I love the Elder Scrolls series. I was very happy when Skyrim was announced, and I've since been happy with the vast majority of information released.

On the other hand, Bethesda is a company, that wouldn't be making Skyrim if it wasn't financially viable. So appreciation doesn't really come into it; I have to pay to play the game, and no matter how much I might admire the game's design and art, Bethesda isn't doing me a favour - and there are several things in every game that I could do better myself, given the right circumstances and resources. I'm not a fan unconditionally, and I'll criticise a game's failings as readily as praise its successes. I'm a statistic, a customer, with no financial or creative power as far as Bethesda's games are concerned.

I like the devs, and I love their games, but they make the game they want, and I give them my money. I'd say that makes us even.

When I played Morrowind for the first time, I thought it was a masterpiece, so much content, lore and life in just one single CD, and such game-play, such a unique world, such an enchanting under-current stories that you could miss, if you passed over them.

Each place had its own soul and style and felt unique, and the end result was a feeling of awe at the game's grandness.

And that was before I knew about the unparalleled mod-ability of the game.

Seriously, I have not seen any other game that could compete with BGS's masterpieces, in this aspect, and this factor alone can keep a game alive and buzzing long after you have forgotten other games.

And Skyrim seems to be their new hot blood champion, ready to win the game of the year cup, with a flourish and a freezing look over a hard smirk, and I can not wait to see it in action. :trophy:

Simple question. Do you appreciate Bethesda for making a sequal?

This may seem like a stupid question but its got to the stage where I have to ask the forum this. I feel bethesda personally have done a fantastic job with the series and think every game is unique and different in their own way. And yes, I would judge the elder scrolls as an RPG series.

I am not saying I think the elder scrolls is the best thing since sliced bread. I do like certain games in the series better than others but I like them all enough to claim that this is my favourite game series (like many people on this forum). Would you prefer to have the series exist rather than not? The way some people talk about Skyrim, it makes me think some people don’t.

Last year, people were wondering if Bethesda would even make a sequel. Now that they have confirmed it, everyone is all excited and of course we cant wait. When they give us game news and screenshots though... people have basically judged the game in very bold statements of "if they do this, i will never buy another elder scrolls game again" and "Skyrim is a disappointment".

I don’t mind constructive criticism about game news or suggestions about adding to the game. What i do mind is people mindlessly attacking the series, Bethesda, each other, about how bad and terrible they think Skyrim will be. Not only does this not achieve anything at the end of the day but it spoils it for people who are really looking forward to the game. And lastly, the pointless attacks on Bethesda who made the elder scrolls. I am not a Bethesda fan boy, I am just struggling to see why people throw so much hate and annoyance at them when A. the game is not even out yet and B. without them, there would be no elder scrolls.

So my question is once again, do you appreciate Bethesda for making a sequel and do you think making such bold hateful statements against the game before it is even out is wrong? Now I shall eat my cookie and hope i dont get flamed :P

Of course we should all appreciate what they do, and I agree the negativity around these parts can get a little 'heavy' from time to time. I mean critiquing the new game and the series is one thing, but sometimes it just gets out of control.

I vote to make one day in every month, 'Bethesda Appreciation Day' in the forums. Make it the eleventh of each month in honor of Skyrim's release. A day when we don't start negative, hateful or critical threads and also avoid them if they turn up. What do you say...anyone with me.

PS: and as for the six of you that voted no....pffffffff shame on you....how many hours of entertainment have you had playing their games over the years? I'm sure it was more than enough to get your money's worth out of them, and for that alone...you should be appreciative.

Bethesda is awesome. Even if Skyrim svcks (which I highly doubt), they'll still be the best company ever for making my favourite game, Morrowind, and being the only company that even bothers to make a big sandbox game - we wouldn't hear about Bethesda half as much if every Dev put in the amount of effort that they put into every inch of their games - seeing a new CoD game being pumped out every 6 months seems almost an insult.

I wasn't a fan of Oblivion, really, but even for what they aimed for that to be made it one of the best games of the past decade. And Fallout 3 is great fun :D

I love the Elder Scrolls as much as any member of my family, more than I like any of my friends and more than I will ever love another game series.

I love every game in the series. Arena is great, Daggerfall is better, Morrowind is better than Daggerfall and Oblivion is as good as Morrowind if not better. Skyrim will come out on top, that's the current trend.

the hell to the YES I appreciate. Without TES video games would be worthless. To me atleast, because TES is at least 9001% better than any other series.

p.s. I am playing Morrowind right now.

I appreciate the work that has gone into their games, the effort they've made on this great forum.
I like the stories and lore, I like the characters, I love the CS', I like the sense of humour of the Devs.
So yes I do, and wish to thank them for it.

However I appreciate my family, that does not mean that I agree with everything they say or do or kiss their scented backsides all the time.

I love Bethesda as well. To me even with all thier faults, I think they are one of the best ones out there. If they didn't widen the appeal to the player base, they would still be around. Don't kid yourself short. Morrowind did excellent for Bethesada. They would have done just as good if they made another Daggerfall/Morrowind game. Thing is, they wanted more money. Just like a company, they want more MONEY. How many times have I have to say this. Bethesda has even admitted to it. They wanted more money. I give them kudos to admit it. At least they are honest about it.

Then again, heaven forbid someone has a different opnion. After all we are all individuals, and we can think what we like. Why should I have to be gone? Just because I think a bit different?
