Are you even serious about the question? That we appreciate the company that brought us the most $%#^$ awesome game experiences of our lives and pretty much redefined what we perceive as a "perfect" game are working to bring us another? And that they are trying really hard for it to be the best one yet?

I'd write a response "HELL YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!" in a ginormous font, but I believe this is better:
If you have any doubt, watch Harry Partridge's clip. It speeks for all of us.

Or maybe some people have different opinions.
Shocking, I know.

And some opinions are bad.

Back to the point, yes, I do appreciate Bethesda. I know they just get paid to make these games, regardless of whether or not people buy them, but Elder Scrolls games are the best I've ever played. It makes me happy to see companies that are passionate about their games, rather than just the money. I think this is what big names like Activision and EA (though lesser than Activision) have lost sight of. For instance, you can release a new Guitar Hero game every year, but it's only a matter of time before they just get http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/02/09/rumor-guitar-hero-dead-massive-activision-layoffs.aspx for the sake of a quick buck, losing all the shine that made them appealing when they first came out. Bethesda takes the time to make masterpieces which can be enjoyed for years to come, and I think them for it.

There are only a few other game companies that have this quality. And it's a shrinking number. Bioware had this, and I love their games too. But after being bought by EA and their determination to release Mass Effect 3 only a year after Mass Effect 2, all while working on the Dragon Age franchise leads me to question whether or not they're putting quality first. And I can't help but think that EA had a hand in all that. Fortunately for Bethesda, they are their own publishing arm. I doubt that they would set quotas they know they can't make and condemn themselves for not making it :P

Better than sliced bread. Better than Valentine's Day cake. Life without TES...much, much less fun.

I think the hysteria we sometimes see over what is to come is borne of a jealous obsession.. or 'appreciation' to put it more mildly.. for what Bethesda has already accomplished. That is, some folks love Bethesda SO much, they end up mistrusting and ranting about Bethesda. Like a weird nerd with a prom queen girlfriend.

Simple question. Do you appreciate Bethesda for making a sequal?

It's sequel. Not sequal. And of course.

Do I appreciate Bethesda, both the company and those who work hard to make it what it is for us? Yes, I do, very much so.

Do I feel that, because I appreciate Bethesda, they are beyond critique? No, I do not.
Do I feel that criticizing Bethesda constitutes casting hate upon Bethesda? No, I do not.

I appreciate them because I care about them and the progress of the series they have formed.
I critique them, sometimes extensively, also because I care about them and the progress of the series they have formed.

Absolutely! The've given us four great games over the years (and a few "other" ones). Why wouldn't we appreciate them?

1. Bethesda is awesome. Morrowind is the best video game I have ever played. Oblivion is second.

2. Constructive criticism is helpful for all. Both of those games, while amazing, had their flaws. But such is life when you are putting out games like this. Not everything will be perfect.

3. I had a friend that was so upset with the Oblivion changes that he refused to play the game. And he never did. His loss. Oblivion was great regardless of all its problems and the fact that I was unhappy with way the magic system and some other things were treated.

4. If anything said on this site goes into making a better final product...all the better...more fun for us, hopefully more $ for gamesas too. Yell your criticisms from the rooftops. Be consistent. Be constructive. Be creative. It would be Bethesda's loss to ignore it.

What sets Bethesda apart from just about all other developers.

1) They don't sell stock in their company.
2) They are their own publisher.
3) Their parent company Zenimax was created by them.

So what you have is a company that doesn't answer to share holders, publishers or a corporate conglomerate making decisions based purely on market anolysis. Sure like an company they are out to turn a tidy profit but they aren't just buy sports cars and yachts with all that money.

MW dev team = 6
OB dev team = 40
FO3 dev team = 60
SR dev team = 100

Do the math. Ok i'll do it for you.

Lets say for the sake of argument that 100 employees avg 100k each a year. After 4 years that's 40million$.
Now lets say licensing fees cost another 10million$
And game print cost 10$ per copy x 5million copies = 50million$
That's a total 100million dollars invested in Skyrim and if all five million copies sell in the first year at 60$ each then that is a gross of 300million and guess what FO3 made that on opening day(because of CEs and SEs)

The trend here is they are making money hand over fist and they are reinvesting it into the companies by hiring more people and acquiring other studios and even venturing into MMOs. At their current rate of growth i fully expect them to be developing FO4 and TES 6 at the same time with two completely separate teams. The more money they make the more games we get and hopefully sooner.

Well done putting that together worm-man!

I've always enjoyed the fact that Bethesda don't answer to share holders. Because Zenimax was founded by 'ex'-Bethesda employees logic would dictate that they actually care about the quality of their finished products and the IP's they own, such as TES. Zenimax has been very busy lately buying up quality studios and acting more as a publisher and not just focusing on Bethesda Softworks produced games. The studios and devs they have invested in are of a very high quality (Id anyone) and seem to share a similar ethos to Bethesda Studios. Personally I'm very excited for the future of Zenimax and enthusiastic/relieved that there is another publisher to contend with Activision and EA.

GO ZENIMAX AND GO BETHESDA!!!!!! WE LUV YA

Bethesda is freaking awesome. 1) They make my favorite game series of all time, 2) I'm going to work there in the future on either TESVI or TESVII, and 3) they are just a really good game developing company! Go Bethesda !

Oblivion, the latest ES game was fun but overall was not as good as I was expecting, Morrowind and Daggerfell are much older and I feel they are much better games. So I'm going to wait to see how Skyrim turns out before mindlessly praising Bethesda. However, the Fallout series is great, I love New Vegas (then again Bethesda did not develop New Vegas), but Fallout 3 was pretty good as well.

I appreciate Bethesda for all of the games they make, but especially The Elder Scrolls series. For once in my life, I could put myself into a videogame, and not just play a game, but live it.

Thank you for everything, Bethesda Game Studios!

I appreciate Bethesda making another TES game. I had assumed that since years passed without even a murmur about another chapter of the Series... that we had seen our last glimpse of Tamriel and Nirn with Oblivion. Especially after the QuakeCon fiasco of "there's no plans for another TES".

I'll show that appreciation to them by buying the Collectors Edition and any other TES goodies that get released, like I always do.

I still have Bethesda's Cafe Press store in my bookmarks. You know, the one that hasn't been touched since Morrowind? ;)

I don't understand some of my fellow long time posters who say they DON'T appreciate it, because it's just business and they're out to make money. Is it just that though? I'm pretty sure Fallout outsold Oblivion by a healthy margin. Would you rather lose Tamriel and replace it with The Wasteland? Business would most likely show that making another Fallout game could probably garner more interest. I hope every fantasy rpg fan sees the forests for the trees here and promotes the piss out of this coming chapter of The Elder Scrolls.

Of course I appreciate Bethesda.

I have the Collector's Edition of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas. And the GOTY of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3. I would not buy the CE's and GOTY's of a company's products if I did not like them or the quality games they produce. :)

Do I appreciate Bethesda in that I consider them by favorite game company then yes. They made my favorite series and stands above the usual shovelware released in the gaming industry like the many FPS clones like Black Ops, Gears of War, and the like. Further more to date they are the only company that I am willing to get the collectors edition for so yes I do appreciate them for being leaders of the open world RPG.

Simple question. Do you appreciate Bethesda for making a sequal?

This may seem like a stupid question but its got to the stage where I have to ask the forum this. I feel bethesda personally have done a fantastic job with the series and think every game is unique and different in their own way. And yes, I would judge the elder scrolls as an RPG series.

I am not saying I think the elder scrolls is the best thing since sliced bread. I do like certain games in the series better than others but I like them all enough to claim that this is my favourite game series (like many people on this forum). Would you prefer to have the series exist rather than not? The way some people talk about Skyrim, it makes me think some people don’t.

Last year, people were wondering if Bethesda would even make a sequel. Now that they have confirmed it, everyone is all excited and of course we cant wait. When they give us game news and screenshots though... people have basically judged the game in very bold statements of "if they do this, i will never buy another elder scrolls game again" and "Skyrim is a disappointment".

I don’t mind constructive criticism about game news or suggestions about adding to the game. What i do mind is people mindlessly attacking the series, Bethesda, each other, about how bad and terrible they think Skyrim will be. Not only does this not achieve anything at the end of the day but it spoils it for people who are really looking forward to the game. And lastly, the pointless attacks on Bethesda who made the elder scrolls. I am not a Bethesda fan boy, I am just struggling to see why people throw so much hate and annoyance at them when A. the game is not even out yet and B. without them, there would be no elder scrolls.

So my question is once again, do you appreciate Bethesda for making a sequel and do you think making such bold hateful statements against the game before it is even out is wrong? Now I shall eat my cookie and hope i dont get flamed :P

Finally someone who shares my point of view. I don't see why people would even post on this forum to complain about a game that isn't even out of development. I mean if you really feel like this game is going to svck then don't post why you think it's going to svck all over the forums. So many people doubt Bethesda nowadays and it drives me insane.
