Or maybe some people have different opinions.
Shocking, I know.
And some opinions are bad.
Back to the point, yes, I do appreciate Bethesda. I know they just get paid to make these games, regardless of whether or not people buy them, but Elder Scrolls games are the best I've ever played. It makes me happy to see companies that are passionate about their games, rather than just the money. I think this is what big names like Activision and EA (though lesser than Activision) have lost sight of. For instance, you can release a new Guitar Hero game every year, but it's only a matter of time before they just get http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/02/09/rumor-guitar-hero-dead-massive-activision-layoffs.aspx for the sake of a quick buck, losing all the shine that made them appealing when they first came out. Bethesda takes the time to make masterpieces which can be enjoyed for years to come, and I think them for it.
There are only a few other game companies that have this quality. And it's a shrinking number. Bioware had this, and I love their games too. But after being bought by EA and their determination to release Mass Effect 3 only a year after Mass Effect 2, all while working on the Dragon Age franchise leads me to question whether or not they're putting quality first. And I can't help but think that EA had a hand in all that. Fortunately for Bethesda, they are their own publishing arm. I doubt that they would set quotas they know they can't make and condemn themselves for not making it
