You are like The Winter Soldier?

This is extreme speculation.

Consider, however, the prospect that you could have been woken from cryogenic stasis before, explored the wasteland, returned, and had your memory of all those experiences erased?

The Memory Den would then, perhaps, have a whole new spin and element to it.

Your character could then plausibly encounter NPCs that seem to know you, that you (currently) have no memory of.

The effects of previous adventures (now forgotten) might now come back to haunt, or help you.

Perhaps the last time you left Vault 111, you left with your child and spouse, but, for whatever reason were compelled to return to Vault 111, and now don't remember?

It's something to think about.

Thoughts?

:)

I would be rather disgruntled if they pulled a Total Recall on us. I'd be even more disgruntled if they pulled a reboot Total Recall on us. Anywho, it'd be too much like the Fallout 3 story in reverse. Plus, you'd have to do some real mental gymnastics to explain why they'd refreeze someone who left the vault and how they'd erase his memories.

Memory Den?

Can someone fill me in on what it is exactly? I remember seeing it in the E3 video and assumed it was just a bar or club but apparently it's some sort of place where you get your memory wiped or something? I don't remember seeing anything about it outside of that small glance we get in the video so did I miss something where they talked about it?

I'm confused.

... or Aeon Flux

... or Oblivion (recent Sci Fi Tom Cruise film where clone Jack regains some memories)

... or Angel Heart

... or Total Recall

... or Fight Club (dual personalities unaware of each other)

... or Memento

... or The Long Kiss Goodnight

... or Dark City

... or, any number of other films and stories where memory and amnesia are an important factor, or play a role in the main plot.

I'm just guessing mind you, but I believe the Memory Den will be the equivalent to the New Vegas medical clinic. In NV Dr. Usanagi would increase player stats through implants, and I believe in FO4 the MD will implant memories to increase player stats for a fee as well.

Now I know it is just concept art and could be radically different in the finished game.

But it makes me think that the Memory Den is a virtual reality recreation suite type of deal.

As seen above http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fo4-memory-den-concept2.png , this concept art seems to show the Memory Den interior it seems to be an attempt to take the Virtual Reality pods that we know already exist from the pre war era and using them a commercial recreation....want to fly a bomber, see what life was like pre war, fight in the Sino-American war etc.

I swear if there isn't a mission in which you team up with a guy in a suit of power armor, a big green super mutant, a sixy redheaded assassin and a guy wielding a tesla infused super sledge then Beth have missed one hell of an opportunity 馃槀

Oh alright thanks, I hadn't seen that concept art before, so that clears a few things up.

If used in game it will probably be some VR event who send you back before the war to gather some information.

For what its worth: I think the memory den will be like the 1990s movie Strange Days, which portrays people uploading other peoples memories for a high.

It opens up a lot of options, especially for pre-war life mods or pre-war battle simulations like anchorage.
