You are NOT the Dragonborn

Post » Thu Jun 03, 2010 1:46 am

There are two options

1. You ARE the Drgonborn but you can only choose between Nord and Imperial races at the begining.

2. You choose whatever race you want just like all the other TES Games (blah blah blah nuh uh, redguard, blah blah) but you are working for the Dragon Born or you meet him, either way you aren't him.

Option 2 is the most likely scenario because I don't see them limiting your choices to two races. So for those of you that were all excited to beat the game and become the emperor, I've dashed your hopes. Why did I do this? For the night mother, that's who.

As my theory goes over, link in sig, I think you'll be a supporting cast again.

As I think the Dovahkiin is a avatar for Shor.

The Nerevarine didn't have to be a Dunmer.

In fact, it's even better if the nerevarine wasn't a dunmer (and bonus points if it was a slave race).

Just because some ancient Nords believed (more accurately, preferred) that their eventual Saviour was of their same blood doesn't mean that the actual saviour will be. I bet you anything that if you asked every citizen of Vvardenfel and probably the rest of Morrowind what race they thought the Nerevarine would be, all of them would say "Dunmer". Same if you asked all the citizens of Skyrim who knew about the Dragonborn as it relates to the eventual storyline, except the answer would change to Nord or possibly Imperial.

For all it matters, the Dragonborn could be Fargoth and that wouldn't matter much. Or indeed, it could be the PC.

The dragonborn has to have a septim lineage by blood or familial association. Now that could mean that a long time ago a nord branch jutted out of the family tree or a more recent branch from an imperial part of the tree jutted out and we still have relatives of the original Septim. I'm guessing the nereverine wasn't a septim or the dragonborn in any way other than that he was from cyrodiil, which doesn't constitute dragonborn.

Maybe if my awesome guild thread hadn't died after 3 reply's while that stupid cannibal guild thread went on for four pages I wouldn't have dashed all your hopes. lol, Now you all deserve it.

I've just realised... in the trailer it says they call HIM Dragonborn... So it probably won't be the PC as they're unlikely to restrict the PC to being male.

Who says that a Septim didn't have a "Love Child" with some other race and you could be mixed raced? Not sure if that would work with being able to create an Argonian and say that he/she is Dragorborn.

In any case, I'm hoping that we aren't stuck with just 2 races to play. That would create a firestorm on these message boards like no one has ever seen.

Actually the Dragonborn could just be a title to symbolise that he is the one that will make the new Empire and become sort of a new Emperor. Like the past Dragonborns (the Septims for example).

And that picture on the wall says nada since nobody has ever seen the Dragonborn while knowing he is the Dragonborn. Therefore they just made a random guy on that wall to symbolise the great hero.

They did the same with the Nerevarine.

It's just a title....that's only ever been given to the Septim line.

And yet, the Lost Prophecy explicitly calls the Nerevarine Dragon-born.

Besides, when you're speaking about filling mythic roles race is irrelevant, only actions, and spirit.

I've got this mad feeling that you'll play the Dragonborn - but you'll wont be able to be any race but Nord. Bethesda great streamlining concession to appease the casual masses, who wish to be unfettered by choice. You heard it here first

Except Bethesda dont do that so I will take that bet. The Dragonborne in this case is gonna be able to be any race you choose, hell we may get a cutscene at the beginning that will show some god calling you the new Dragonborne, there are literally hundreds of ways for them to handle this question but forcing a race upon you has never been their style, so relax people and be the kajiit or argonian or orc you wanna be.

They are using it in a differant context there. By Dragonborn they meant someone from Cyrodiil/from the Imperial empire.

This dragon born (Dovahkiin) is of a different type completely. He is like Tiber Septim the Dragonborn.

I am thinking that the devs who wrote that book are looking at us now thinking that they should not have called the Nerevarine a Dragonborn.

If I am the Dragonborn, I won't care/will forget about it.

If I'm NOT the Dragonborn, then I will probably accidently/purposefully kill him in some amazing/random way.

Killing the Dragonborn will cause your game to end, with the added bonus of corrupting all your previous saves.

How did Tiber Septim become dragonborn in the first place?

Maybe the process may be repeated somehow, and a new dragonborn bloodline is created?

This right here. The Septim line is dead. It died with the death of Martin (the last living heir) as far as memory serves me. So why not have the player forge a new pact to keep the Daedra Lords at bay and relight the dragonfires? :)

I don't want to be the comedy sidekick again like in Oblivion who did all the fetcher-quests while Emperor Martin stole all the glory by taking the ring amulet. I want to be the hero and saviour of the world!

The Dragonborn is dead, long live the Dragonborn!

The Dragon Born doesn't have to be a Nord or Male.

The player could simply assume the role of the Dragon Born, just like in Morrowind. The Nerevarine didn't have to be a dark elf or male. If you look closely in the Morrowind intro, when the prophecy is read aloud, the last part of the prophecy says: "ignorant of the role HE was to play in that nations history" - still, there Nerevarine didn't have to be male.

Personally, I think it would be lame if I didn't get to be the hero of my own game. :)

Unless it's Alduin that's causing trouble. Maybe then we should forge a pact with the Daedra Lords to keep Alduin at bay. Yea, I like it. I do.

I think Dragonborn is a reincarnation like with the Nerevarine. And that person could be reincarnated as any race.
This would be the best storyline also imo.
