You asked for it, You got it, And Now you CRY!

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:56 pm

Well you got realism, you got DX11, you got better settings and now all I see is crying about fps and your systems can't run it. Ya you took a hit what did you expect? Crysis 1 brought every system to its knees and sent flocks of pc gamers out to upgrade their systems the very next day. They tried to not do that to you this time and you cried. Now with the new patch and DX 11 it brought your systems down again and you want it back the way it was when you could run it.

The DX 11 is quite beautiful if you sit back and just look around without worrying about fps, its breathtaking graphics and realism now, its quite great. I admit my system is a medium gaming rig and I took about a 20 fps hit so I have to turn it down in multiplayer myself, but I am not crying about what we all asked for because my rig svcks and can't run it all on highest settings. You got exactly what you asked for now deal with it and quite crying, go UPGRADE. This isn't the console world, its PC Gaming and PC gaming cost money to run the best stuff, so spend a little or quite crying now seriously.

I got into a fire fight in the upper part of the building hallway with about 5 guys in Wall Street and the lighting effects and particles going off were Amazing and the coolest thing I have seen in a video game in a long time. If you can't run it don't blame crytek any more, its your rig.

Yeah, totally agree... What did you expect? To run DX11 on 1GB of RAM?!

Agree. But PC gamers are the most stupid race on earth. They generally don't understand what they're asking for.
All they can do is complaining.

Yes they do.

Props to war_spirit, according to this video, only one guy is legit while 80% are a$$hole PC gamers, it pains me to say but i think he's right, very few PC gamers appreciate what developers go through to make a game succeed..... the other ones, not suggesting they hack, but forget why PC games thrive...... because the community.......not to win.

I'm actually quite surprised at such a small FPS hit ( after playing with catalyst control centre )

I still have more tests to do in order to find the sweet spot FPS wise, It was only a couple hours ago I was able to pick my Jaw up from the floor :D

I never asked for the DX11 patch.
Upgrading is for no-lifers. It's a waste of money.
I'm happy with Crysis 2 as it is.
I don't care about graphics.
The end :)

I think the crytek community team knows this, which should be common sense really: People will cry about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. If there is nothing, NOTHING, to cry about, then they will either cry about there being nothing to cry about, or they will make something up, so they can cry about that.

Agreed.

DX9: Performance

DX11: Full eye candy experience with much lower FPS.

Use your common sense, use DX9 mode then and put everything to low. Most people expected Crysis 2 to be DX11, it's a fact.

I also agree to this as well, going off the past thought it would bring my system to its knees but its smooth, I haven't had hardly any issues with any games with my new rig compare to my old one, the main reason is when buildin a rig you have to check every little detail for compatibility which will cause system instability in games.

The only game which does low fps at the mo maxed out are the witcher 2 with ubersampiling and everythin else maxed and crysis 1 but I get a average of 50fps with max and 16xAA.

I now feel that crysis 2 is up to the standards of crytek, just disappointed in the non linking storyline to the first and that the levels arent as big as the first. Oh well

Hey for anyone who wants an extra 20FPS with everything on Ultra just put Shaders and Shadows to High. :) It works. I get 30-50FPS at 1600*900 instead of 15FPS. Lol.

I couldn't care less about the DX11 patch, but now I 'cry' because all non-DX11 features are restricted to DX11.

Tesselation is indeed a DX11 feature, but POM isn't.
And nor is HDR Motion blur, or the sprite-based DOF. And the improved tone mapping isn't, either.
I can't see what's so DX11-ish about the shadow update, and motion blur/shadows for particles. (Read DX11 up on Wikipedia.)

And yes, it does mention some DX9 updates, but I really can't see those.

Unless they only appear in very specific places, and I'm playing a new campaign.
But the thing is, these updates should affect 'most' of the game.

Which leaves me rather disappointed, and in hope that it'll change.

And yes, the "Improved Tone Mapping (DX9)" doesn't work in DX9.
Because supposedly, it should be improved everywhere.

Yet after comparing a screenshot with the DX11 pack in the /patch folder and one without -
(where a little "Download the DX11 pack to unlock this feature!" is near the grayed DX11 switch) -
I saw no difference.

P.S: Why do a lot of people write "Crytech", it's CryTEK. Far from the same thing.

Awesome string dude) AWESOME!!!
Where are you upgrading for free? xD
Or you creating details by your own hands from "create with your own hands material"? xXD

It's always a waste of money. But for some people it good waste of money for them as it approvable. And for some it isn't approvable.

Runs fine on my GTX480 with everything maxed out on all settings and patches, the frame rate very occasionally lets me know that my hardware is being pushed but the experience isn't compromised at all IMO. I am very impressed indeed. I think the patches are an unqualified success from what I've seen.

Thats my opinion.

I think it's very promising for CryEngine3 and with any luck many cross platform games using the Cryengine 3 will also exploit DX11 features on the PC as this version of DirectX really seems to be gathering momentum now (which is probably a sign that a new MS console based on DX11 is indeed due in 2012 or soon after).

I'm actually quite happy with the way the patch and the new settings turned out, I can still run the game just fine and only in big firefights do I see a small slowdown. I think Crytek did a hell of a job in how they optimized everything, and some months down the road I will just buy a new GFX card and then the slowdown will be history.
