Do you believe in 2012?

you don't believe in universal justice then? i'd like to think that all the unsolved murders and all hidden evil there will be retribution for it all, be some means.

Will the world will end in 2012? Well, why not? After all, it ended once in 1988, right? And again in 1993. Then once more 1994 and yet again in 2000. I've survived the "End of the World" at least four times now. What's one more? After the world ends in 2012, we'll only have 4 years before it ends again in 2016. Then we'll have 18 years to wait until the next "End" in 2034 and only a scant 13 years before the next "End" in 2047. So yeah, the world is ending, and we can't do anything about it. Once you accept that, you'll be at peace, like me.

Unfortunately all of these apocalyptic movies based on crappy prophecies are getting just as old. :/

I think almost every angle has been covered for the theme now.

Unfortunately this is too rational, and most people aren't very rational surrounding the idea of dying. I'm not either, to be honest.. and I would go to great lengths to either avoid dying or get sentimental last words despite having no regrets. Make no mistake, I don't go around worrying about death at every turn, nor am I paranoid about living life to it's fullest, knowing that life isn't without risk, but I suppose each time I hear or read things like this, especially the impact on society they will have, I make special room to celebrate inevitable prophetic failure because I take the issue with a grain of seriousness (I already used up the grains of salt). Although, clearly a good number of people take it serious way more than I do.

I know, when faced with death I hope I can remaina s rational, I probably won't. Still, no reason not to be rational now because I may not be able to later.

Of course I believe in 2012.

It's not like we're gonna go from 2011 to 2013 without the year 2012 happening. Sheesh.

Don't forget 2038, where a y2k style date error may end up causing minor disruptionkilling us all.

I don't, nor would I want there to be any. I'll leave it at that.

Unfortunately, I'm going to miss that one. In 2036, I will fall through a time warp caused by an Ultra Large Hadron Collider. This will cause me to become "unstuck" in time and start bouncing around the time stream. I will end up in 1621, 1947, 1272, 1996, 1384, 2027, 1019, 2018, 1816, 2048 and 2010 (when I meet myself and explain all of this). After that, I'm not sure where I end up or if the time jumps ever stop.

I'm pretty sure it will be the end for someone. But not the earth or humanity or something as silly as that. What I have heard is that the sun might burst an "EMP" at earth around the years 2010-2020. A similar thing happened before, some decades back, when we on earth only had a few electric devises and didn't rely on them as we do now. So basically the worst thing that can ahppen 2012 is everyones electricity going away for a very long time. Earth is not going to go anywhere and we won't go anywhere. Possible victims to starvation and/or freezing can happen, if the sun bursts at all.

yeah I know, but 3rd millenium doesn't sound interesting in the least, and 21st century ruins the reference.

The Mayan's prediction of 2012 was that the 'magic' of the world would be renewed. They believed the 'magic' in the world is renewed every 5000 years (I think its 5000), it just so happens that the next one lands on 2012. They stopped marking the calendar at this time because they would need to start it again anyway. Also 2012, is also likely wrong as the Gregorian calendar we're using to plaice that year has been reset and adjusted too many times for the date to still be accurate, just like Jesus by the modern calendar actually having been born in -6 bc.

What you take this renewal to really mean is up to you, I don't think the world will end for all of the reasons I have stated above. I think something big will happen, maybe the extreme solar flares that scientists have predicted using science. Rather than the renewal of the world that people predicted using absolutely no known form of science.

You mean from 2011 to 2013?

Not at all, I am of course referring to the cycle of astrological ages. Each age is a period of 2,150 years and many believe we are now shifting from the Age of Capricorn into the Aquarian Age.

kinda...

I don't know if it's been mentioned previously, but a man by the name (I think) of Charles Hapgood had a theory that our world went through a natural ice age every 10,000 years or so, to kind of "restart" it's natural cycle. It's more complicated then that, I'm sure, but that's what I remember, anyway...

What's interesting is later on Albert Einstein expanded upon the theory, himself believing that it was possible(at least momentarily, hence digging up an old theory by someone widely considered at his time to be a fool[This is Hapgood])

It's been over (I think) 10,000 years since the end of the last ice age, I'm pretty sure, so it's possible that there is no such thing. But then again, it wouldn't surprise me otherwise.

I'm also starting to wonder if it's just something that they do to keep you in fear. There's always something the world is trying to keep you uneasy about.

If it were an ice age, if Global warming exist these two will conflict and possibly cancel eachother out..with luck

I don't believe it because there is nothing to believe. There is not a single piece of evidence to be found. Seriously I challenge anyone to bring forth some credible evidence. I certainly haven't been able to find anything.

First of all, Earth is [censored] one way or another.

1. Sun is going to burn its core in a couple of billion years and expand(it will not go super nova apparently) causing the obits of the planets to venture outwards. However the Earth will be too hot to sustain human life.

2. Some years ago they discovered an asteriod on a collision course to earth which will hit in about 500 years.

3. Global warming which people are too stupid and blind to believe is truely happening. I mean gosh, I guess that hole over antartica is Earth photoshopping itself. Eventually, before the Sun burns Earth alive, Earth will burn itself.

So why even care about 2000(which didn't happen, and Y2K was a joke as well), and 2012, when the generations before us will have to get the hell off the planet sooner or later anyway?
