Do You BELIEVE in GHOSTS ?

Do you believe in ghosts?

I have seen what I believe to be a ghost.

I was a in my late teens and I can remember every detail of this experience like it was yesterday.

There was a shortcut that I used and it cut across a big stand of fir trees. It was an old dirt road that was overgrown and closed to traffic because people would dump a bunch of junk out there . I was hoofing it on a summer night through the woods and about 15 feet in front of me stands this black figure wearing a hat. It was just like seeing a shadow, it was a different kind of darkness. I couldn't make out any details it was just this well defined black outline standing there on the side of the road.

I cried out " I hope that's a person? , Hello? Uhh Hello?" Time seemed to stop for a moment. The hair stood up on the back of my neck and it felt like I had several needles jammed into my back. For a half second I thought I was going to choke on my own tounge. When my flight or flight response kicked in I ran right past it and the rest of the way home in a full sprint. I was overcome by fear.

That was not a person and it wasn't a shadow . It was ghost. I never used the short cut again alone at night.

Have you ever seen a ghost ?

All jokes aside, no I'm not one for the supernatural or religious or anything that can't be backed up scientifically. There may be such things as ghosts, but I find it very unlikely.

Ghosts fascinate me, but I've never seen one and even if I did I'd question my sanity first.

Also good luck posting a thread about ghosts on a forum where 90% of the members are cynics who can't toy around with ideas that aren't realistic or scientific. I can already imagine how this thread will turn out...

As a former ghost, I can confirm that they are real and the amount of disrespect they get is upsetting.

Eh, I can't say that I find them very interesting, nor do I think they're real. Me being a huge [censored] that gets scared easily might have something to do with my refusal of their existence.

I think one reason many people don't like to take them seriously is because they think they'll be associated with idiots on ghost hunting shows.

I'll believe when I see one. Or not, I'll probably get worried that I started hallucinating.

B.. But... Those ghost hunting reality shows!! They get night vision cameras and go in abandoned houses and have the camera pointed at them while they sit there going "Oh my god! i heard a creak over there! You see that! THAT DOOR MOVED ON ITS OWN!" all while they are pointing off camera where you cant actually see said door!

That is irrefutable proof that there are ghosts if you ask me!

Nah, I don't believe in ghosts. Every time someone's looked into cases of "sightings" the results have either disproven them or come up inconclusive.

What with ghosts being supposedly supernatural things, it could be more complicated than that, but I've never had any reason to believe that that's the case.

Ghosts feed on fear, you should've walked up to shake its hand and see what happened then.

I think you mean skeptic, cynics are people who think people are motivated by self interest and greed.

A skeptic is someone who questions beliefs, facts and opinions that are presented as facts.

Also why would we seriously toy around with an idea that isn't realistic or scientific. The OP asked us our stance and I stated mine, my Are you serious post was merely a joke.

I never said nonbelievers were cynics. I said that the forum is mainly composed of cynics. Good luck proving me wrong.

Ever consider the fact that what you likely saw was a tree, some branches, and maybe some leafs shaped around each other in a very specific way? Much more logical explanation then "AHH SPOOKY GHOST MONSTURRRRRRRRR!"

Ghost and all other paranormal nonsense is nothing more than the creations of people whom suffered from conditions such as sleep paralysis and shizophrenia before we had titles and descriptions for such things. And if anyone tries to call me ignorant-minded or a cynic for believing this statement, based off all facts and logical evidence, they themselves are ignorant for denying evidence to the contrary when it's sitting right in front of your face.

Ghost are as real as Santa Clause.

I neither believe nor disbelieve in ghosts. I believe that there are (probably a lot of) things about the universe that we don't understand yet, and I believe that a lot of people jump to conclusions about things they don't understand.

If you were ever in my house some nights, you would swear it is haunted. It makes weird sounds, sometimes banging noises, sometimes moans, sometimes scratching sounds (not from the attic, or I would have put some traps up there). No one is home with me, the wind is not blowing, my neighbors are asleep. But, the house is only 5 years old, I have lived in it since it was built, and the land under my house used to be a corn farm.

So, unless I am being haunted by some deranged cornstalk, there are no ghosts at my house.

I believe in ghosts but i do not attribute them to religion.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't believe that what people see as ghosts are anything intelligent. I think it's some sort of residual imprint left on the environment.

I do believe, one day, science will be able to explain why we see them.
