@DCDeacon Thanks! So if you have a 1 hander in your right hand, will LT perform a block if nothing is equipped in left hand?

Yeah, this has been confirmed earlier I believe. A little disappointing, but not majorly.

How does this not make sense? Why even put shields in the game if everyone can block with a sword? In Oblivion you could just take a dagger as a mage and block without any disadvantages.

On the other hand, I think something like a parrying dagger would be a neat addition. Basically using a dagger as a shield (and not for stabbing).

There were disadvantages. Namely, blocking with a dagger mitigated much, much less damage than blocking with a shield. It was logical, as there is plenty of "blocking" (parrying) between swords in swordplay. Now, one handed weapon combat will basically be a matter of slashing and sidestepping.

Blocking with a Shield made you take less damage then blocking with a Weapon,it actually it made perfect sense.

Cept dagger blocking.

Pete has now "confirmed" it both ways. According to his most recent tweet, you can only block with a shield, torch, or two handed weapon.

But if this is true...dang,now everyone that wants to block with 1-handed weapons is going to be forced to play a Knight with a shield,or move up to 2-Handed.

This actually makes no blocking with dual wielding easier to accept... Even though I've already accepted it.

So should everyone else.

If only we could block a full powered over-head swing of a claymore with a little dagger

Agreed. You're telling me a freaking TORCH is more capable of blocking than a long sword made out of steel just because you use it with one hand? Come on

I'm guessing, I think he just got confused with the earlier tweet about shields, 2h, and torch blocking.Or was he confused when he tweeted the "right" tweet?Who knows.

@Dragonborn1

Was I implying in that statement that you couldn't block with 1h + empty?I was leaning towards could.

I'm hoping dragonborn's thread is correct, not this

Honestly it doesnt make sense not to be able to block with a one handed weapon--its no different than a two handed weapon except its smaller...actually making it easier to parry
