Do you want to be able to breathe fire? I really don't know if it will fit to be honest...

I think it will look pretty cool. Imagine seeing one of the beastraces shout fire!

I wonder if the ice breath shout will slow enemies like the ice spells will.

I say probably.

I say probably.

Shouts should be more powerful in 3rd tier form, so I wonder what advantages the ice shout has over the ice spell?

The Fire Breathing confirmation is nice. It's also a nice opportunity for roleplayers that may not wish to incorporate magic directly into their character make-up to have access to a large elemental AoE ability.

Honestly folks, some of you are so quick to post - and not say anything.:stare: Being quick to jump on someone's thread to say "Pffft, old news" or similar dismissive posts does not make you awesomely knowledgeable about Skyrim. It makes moderators think you are spamming post count, and we set counts back to zero if we see that kind of behavior. Just sayin' .

On topic: Although the mural depicts a man "breathing" fire, that could simply be representative, trying to convey, as ancient murals do, the concept that some men can take on some dragon skills, or are "like" dragons in some way. Doesn't necessarily mean they can belch out a blast of fire like the dragon in game video clip. Perhaps they do, or perhaps that particular shout translate into something the human body can handle, that is as strong in its way as a blast of flame. We'll find out come November, I guess..

yea it seems likely that you should be able to breath fire,
but the Draugr can use dragon shouts as well so can they breath fire to,
also do you think the interview is on the gametrailers website

And a kajiit running off with singed whiskers :flamed: . My point is that I don't like to be set apart from other people in the game world too much in the sense of what they are actually capable of and breathing fire is a bit of a step too far in my opinion.

I see your point, but at the same time we are the Dragonborn.

Imagine going ino a shop and haggling with a merchant. Say the merchant doesn't see eye to eye with you and bam! Fire shout to the face! I can imagine the youtube videos now.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I ever heard! And I heard a lot!

Not a fan of breathing fire. So I guess I just won't pursue this shout. Doesn't really fit 'realism' here. From the few shouts that were confirmed, I thought shouts would only affect the envirionment. (slow time, stop time, force push, teleport etc...) not manifest matter.
A little wierd IMO.

actually I wouldn't be so sure, Todd said they wanted to keep the shouts distinct from the magic sooo. Unless they think that making a fireball and breathing fire is distinct from eachother

the dragon's powers are their magic, which is based on their words of power. Breathing fire is part of that magic, and you can learn it!

suggests we will learn how to fly to...

Of course you can. How did people not predict this before? He said that dragons breathe fire using dragon shouts. You use dragon shouts.

1+1=2.

I never went there.

But, then, it's probably because the idea seems a bit silly to me, so I wouldn't think in that direction. :D

1. We didnt know breathing fire was a dragon shout until a couple of days ago.

2. Just because dragons use it, would not necessarily mean we can use it, or vice versa. I HIGHLY doubt dragons will use sneak shouts, or teleport shouts.

3. The whole "you can do all they can do" is a marketing gimmick, kids. Its not reliable.

That, too. :)

I suspected it since the teaser, because the dragonborn likeness in the Wall seems to be breathing fire...

But its confirmed in the interview in Gametrailers TV: eventually you learn a dragon shout that lets you breathe fire! Remember, the dragon's powers are their magic, which is based on their words of power. Breathing fire is part of that magic, and you can learn it!

This was already confirmed (only you don't actually breathe the fire) as it is shown in the trailer at 1:36.

Dragons probably mate using dragon shouts...so I doubt we'll be able to do that, do you?

I think they use...other body parts for that.

Shooting fire out of your hands is perfectly normal, but shooting fire out of your mouth is weird?

how will this work any different from cone flame spells? besides from probably being a powerful attack that doesn't cost magicka.

It may have been likely since we learned that dragon breath is Thu'um, but there's quite a difference between "most likely" and "Todd confirmed it". I'm really glad this ability's available to player characters. "Breathe Fire" was a non-aligned reward for Chaos Champions in my old edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and now I can finally roll a fire-breathing champion, in an open world fantasy CRPG no less. :geek:!

Was it specifically only fire breath that Todd confirmed? I wonder if we can breathe frost (and others) like the dragons as well.

Cool. I can shout fire, and I can use dual fire spells.

Imagine how much you could set on fire... :flamethrower:

I imagine this may be more useful to a non-mage in that regard. Or maybe since you're using basically root-level commands to reality, its potential can far surpass even Master-level destruction magic.
