You can command followers from a distance

So I don't know if this is common knowledge, I sort of found this feature by accident. Figured with all the complaints about companions running through traps, this might be useful for some people.

Basically, holding down the use button on a follower (like you would on an item if you wanted to move it around, not pick it up into your inventory) brings up the 'I want you to do something' feature. Only, it also works from a distance. I've tested it out and it works pretty well for steering followers around traps.

Simply tell your follower to wait, move around the trap, and then sight your follower in your crosshairs, and hold down the use button. Then you can use the 'Wait here' a few times to maneuver them around a trap. Or into one, if you want ;)

Hope that's helpful for some people :)

EDIT: Forgot to add, when you do this, your follower often starts moving towards you right away, but you can pretty much instantly tell them to wait right near where they were standing. I don't think it always did it, so maybe a recent patch changed it?

EDIT2: Also, they wont sneak in this mode, even if you're sneaking. Still playing around with it a bit.

Not common enough apparently, reading the other replies. Plus the poll (2/13 as of edit.)

You're welcome guys :) Glad this could help a few people out.

Still playing around with it a bit, but I'll post any updates I find with it.

Which basically means you personally knew about it which is all that counts in a single player game, right?

That sounds pretty great, thanks! This is kind of random and basically useless, but if you listen to the in game music, you can go into your skills menu and exit back out to change the track. I don't know if it works for adventuring, but it works in taverns. Kind of pointless, but hey! lol

Oh... wow. Finally, a way to make them go around traps.

Now if I could only remember to use it...
