You can summon a dragon. -_-

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 1:41 pm

I've known this for a while now but I was unable to post about it because only recently have I joined the forums. I was reading the wiki a long time ago and there was a new page about dragon shouts. I had scrolled down after a short time to find a shout that wasn't completely named but ended with "Dovah". If you don't believe me click the link and scroll down.

EDIT: And for Dragonborn's sake don't flame me if this was posted already because there was no other way to search the forum besides looking through 872 pages of threads!

Lol, it's gonna be a VERY high level shout, therefore will take a while to get and fully upgrade. Not a big deal.

You can search through the search function at the top of the screen you know...

Anyway, not sure what this thread is trying to achieve. Complaining about summoning a dragon or praising it? I'm not sure. I personally can't say yay or nay to summoning a dragon, because I've obviously not done it yet.

That Wiki isn't an official site, so I'd take anything you read there with a grain of salt.

It's certainly possible, but they don't seem very clear on what the shout actually is. Nor have there been any official statements/videos/screenshots mentioning that.

The extent of the shout is not yet known, though I highly doubt you're going to be summoning the same dragons that you are fighting.

I believe the 3rd level of the shout will call a dragon, I recall reading someone's Pax playthrough and he learned a word of power that called an animal to aid him, but he couldn't use it of course because there arent any dragons in the demo meaning no souls to unlock the shouts.

Do we know what the total number of shouts is? That wiki says only 20 but I thought that Bethesda has been saying like over 24 or something. Idk.

I highly doubt that. They wouldn't be ripping off Eragon.

Protonymic incantation has been done in Elder Scrolls before. That's how Dagon got burned at the end of Battlespire IIRC.

There are two things that the et'ada fear: the unlikely event that their foe has mustered enough power to overwhelm them.... and someone learning their protonymic.

I wonder if you can summon it then kill it and take its soul. That'd be a very jerky thing to do.

This was mentioned in the Game Informer coverage right after the game was announced, IIRC. You "call a dragon to aid you."

Which ripped off a considerable number of other sources that ripped off Western and Eastern European myths and folklore intertwined with some hidden Middle Eastern sources.

"One particularly potent shout speaks the true name of an actual dragon, and the beast is forced to come to your aid and fight beside you in battle."
- Issue 214, February 2011, page 58, Game Informer.

Before anyone asks, it is impossible for me to link to a print magazine. If anyone else still has copy as I do they can confirm it. They may have posted about it on their website as well, but I'm not about to read through all that coverage. ^_^

The shouts are wide waging and very detailed wouldn't surprise me if one of the shouts summons dragons probbly one of the reasons they fear the dragon born, dragon control. Sorta the same reasons undead fear high level necromancers

Um ... okay. I'm sure, as the first person said, that you won't be able to summon a dragon anytime soon in the game; it will take A LOT of leveling up to ever reach that status. But who knows, maybe at about 3/4 through the game you'll be able to.

Be careful with wikis and remember they are not official... i still remember time where wiki sayed that one of lithuanian rulers was a king(however in the same wiki,in more detailed expanetion it is sayed that he ALMOST became king, but almost doesnt count...) and counting lithuania had only one king, discusion about second lasted almost whole history lesson lol(if you can count history teacher and my class mate yelling at each other discussion...)

For those of you questioning the source, Todd has mentioned a dragon summoning shout several times.
