If you could bring back one feature from a previous game

So you really want cliffracers that much?

Do you really want to remove MORE content that much?

Seriously, I see NO problem. At all. Whatsoever.

I mean, sure, I don't want Bethesda to just used recycled concepts and creatures, have their own unique designs for the new province, but, why should Cliff Racers, or any other similar flying predator be removed? Because of a problem with spawning that is largly overly exagurrated by Morrowind haters? I think not. I mean, the only problems I can think of with Cliff Racers are:

  • Spawn Rates
  • Descend Speed
  • Too Fast
  • Get stuck on scenery too easily (though, I don't know why people complain about this if they want to get rid of Cliff Racers. Just complaining for the sake of complaining, I guess)

Now please, enlighten me. What other problems are there with Cliff Racers that Bethesda wouldn't obviously fix in TESV? And should we remove AI from TESV because NPC's occasionally killed eachother in Oblivion? Should we remove enchanting because it often bugs in both Morrowind and Oblivion? Should we do away with beast races because they just look like humans with funny heads?

Oh, and Cliff Racers were definatly NOT the worst reatures to plague TES. Some of the worst include:

  • Morrowind's endess supply of Slaughterfish
  • Oblivion's relentless Wolves
  • Morrowind's plain ol' annoying Kagouti
  • The various creatures that interrupt me when I sleep
  • Oblivion's Mudcrabs that are impossible to see and constantly stop me sleeping
  • Morrowind's Bonewalkers/Hungers that drain my strength

Yet, I have no problem with any of these. If reincluded Bonewalkers would have a lighter curse, Mudcrabs would be more visible, Wolves would stop hasing me after a while, Slaughterfish would spawn a lot less. The Slaughterfish and Hunger in Oblivion are great examples of this. They removed the problems they had. I don't see you complaining?

This. And until someone tells me a genuine reason why they should never be in TESV, I'm leaving it there.

Unless you know something I don't than Cliffracers wouldn't be able to survive in Skyrim (where most people believe TESv is going to take place). And why the hell do people miss em? It's just another creature that randomly appears in the wild to harass you for no apparent reason.

Probably the traveling system of Morrowind. (aka no fast travel crap, actually traversing through the game world instead of going "lolsup i wanna be here nao")

[*]The various creatures that interrupt me when I sleep

You know, I think they should implement a system where, when you get high enough in level, the smaller creatures no longer register as threats to your person and you can sleep with impunity near them. It is quite annoying not being able to sleep and having to search for and dispose of the mudcrab which requires 1 hit to kill.

Why wouldn't they? You do realise that North Skyrim is hardly colder than, say, Sheogorad Region? And, if you look at my last post, I'm fine with Bethesda not using recycled concepts, I'm actually all for new and original ideas, but I don't see why anything similar to a Cliff Racer (flying predators) should be removed from the whole game.

And I don't miss Cliff Racers, so to say, I miss a poulated sky. Oblivion's skies are so bland and uninteresting. I also miss being attacked from above. I may think I'm completely safe, because I see no enemies, but by the time I look up, a Cliff Racer has already begun to pummel me. I love that feeling.

That video is over exaggerated.

I've never seen that many at once in the actual game.

Exactly. The MOST I've ever had, in the depths of Red Mountain at a high level at once is 3. maybe 4. While they were overly spawned, it was nowhere near as bad as the Morrowind haters make it out to be. It's just like someone hating Oblivion because of buggy AI. It's unreasonable entirely.

Red Mountain isn't the worst for cliffracers, although it's bad.

They specifically put a ton in that foyada on the way from Mar Gaan. You could end up fighting 6 at once if you're not careful.

But more than 10 at once isn't going to happen unless you try. And you'll never get as many as are in the video without using the console or construction set.

And how many of those did he spawn with the console or construction set? im guessing all of them. There were never that many cliffracers. I personally never had a problem with them and thought they added a little variety to the game. i liked that they added stuff to the air, if we could fly with them that woulda been even better :P but having monsters in the air and on the ground was cool. having just packs of wolves not so cool.

For one, open cities, like in Morrowind.

Spell failure.

Ability to sleep anywhere. Just like in Morrowind, your fatigue restores, but not health unless you are in bed. (that was the case, wasn't it, I don't remember anymore). And enemies attack you if the find you sleeping in wilderness.

Flying enemies, like Cliff Racers. I know they were highly annoying, but they made your journey tough. Overall, I want future game to be tough, not being able to kill a soldier at the beginning of the game.

I wouldn't say there necessiraly has to be an argument made for why cliffracers should be removed, since they've only been implemented in Morrowind. There would only have to be a reason (or argument) why they should be added again.

Though I do agree there needs to be more wildlife in the sky. Make something unique, don't just try to rehash, or improve upon a previous idea. People hated the cliffracers in Morrowind, why would Beth decide to re-implement them? Just to prove a point? That wouldn't be cool, or interesting at all.

I would even vote for something non-aggressive in the sky, as long as there is something that fits, and adds to the atmosphere.

look morrowind is a good game i just got annoyed by the stupid cliff racers, and this was a glitch, a fluke, that was hillarious because it would probably almost never happen let alone on a lets play(it was a deleted scene)you know it would be alright if there weren't so many of them, if they decended faster, if they weren't so fast(honestly with boots of blinding speed they were catching up), and especially LOWER THE HEARING RANGE OF THAT ANNOYING CALL.

I really didn't think there were that many of them, compared to some other creatures. It's just that they travelled in flocks of three, so it was one after another.

Levitation, followed by Mark and Recall.
I like to go the way the crow/cliff racer flies.
Mark and Recall was just handy for looting, or dodging the fuzz.

Also, something otherworldly, like silt striders. I mean come on, riding a giant flea was awsome! (screw lore and setting compatability, I've never cared for it).

This is exactly my point. While I don't want to see recycled concepts, I want to see dangerous sky wildlife similar to Cliff Racers. This is what people seem to have a problem with.

And Bethesda included Slaughterfish in Oblivion, with fixes, even though they were majorly hated in Morrowind. I don't see why they can't do the same again.

Am I the only one who does kind of want to see cliff racers in Skyrim? Maybe an different breed of cliff racers, more accustomed to the cold climate in the mountains of skyrim? Only existing on the border to morrowind?

The new technology could possible make an awesome cliff racer, I've always wanted to see a cliff racer who is not flying, but sitting on a cliff side, kind of like http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47655000/jpg/_47655699_coatsisl.jpg

In any case, aerial danger would be refreshing.

I completely agree with you. But, seeing a new variety of bird would be refreshing. Similar, of course. http://www.legendarypokemon.net/images/dp_artwork/144.png's something I've always thought ccould fit in quite well in skyrim. Obviously they'd need to tweak it to be more unique.

Cliff racers could come back just so long as there are about a fifth of Morrowind's number in the new province.
