if you could change only one thing about Brink

Post » Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:23 am

This game looks amazing and I can't wait to play it.
The only aspect that I'd prefer to see different is the use of those terminals to swap roles and weapons.
Using a terminal to alter "spec" works just fine for me. Im used to it in borderlands, for example, and its not a problem.
But if I need to use a terminal to switch weapons I'll go nuts. I far prefer having my own set of weapons I can cycle thru when I want to.
If that isn't how this works, I apologize ahead of time.
Other than that, I cannot wait to play this game.

how about you? Anything you'd prefer to see different?

So far I'm looking forward to what the developers have to offer, I enjoy playing something that took years to perfect.

In all honesty what I would change is for upcoming video's - really show off the SMART system. What I mean by this is give the game to someone who is willing to play it with the idea of winning in mind, and not showing off the new features. I know some of the features, I've spent hours upon hours in the forums. Now let me see a guy play Brink like his life depends on it, and not like he's going on a stroll showing off the scenery to his friends (who just so happen to walk through there everyday). I want to see what SMART can do.

And if they would be so kind, please no more Gorund AR. Give us something new to salivate over!

I believe the way it works is that you can set up each weapon to be the way you like prior to entering the game, and be able to pick your customized weapons quickly. You have the option of going in and tweaking your weapons during the game, but if you're concerned about speed, the idea is to customize everything before hand.

So if you don't want to change your weapon upgrades, you just have to go in and select a primary and then a secondary weapon, and you're ready to go.

As far as changes, I have yet to see anything that I don't like, such opinions may have to wait until i actually play. The inability for light players to use a shotgun strikes me as a bit odd, but SMGs work just fine in CQC.

I wouldn't know. That's a bit of a hard question for some people, because it really seems like it would be more appropreate to ask after it comes out.

I would however, delete the Anger from the game.

I would get rid of the trash-bag pants before the anger.

I have a feeling half of the people who play as Resistance operatives are all going to be running around as the Anger archetype...sigh..

Ehh, I think the two would take away from the intense, close quarters action Brink was designed to encourage.

Yea, SD has done everything to make this a close-combat game, partially because they want players to be able to see all the cool customization, but mostly because they find CQC more fun than trying to aim at a 4 pixel high person, and I tend to agree. So the maps are made smaller, and they have rooms capped at 8v8, which they have found to be the perfect amount in testing. More people than that, and they said the games are less personal, you don't keep killing and getting killed by the same people.

Bigger maps with more players doesn't automatically mean that there will be long range combat, it depends on the map design.

But to stay ontopic: I want iron-sights out.

Remove ironsights.

Hell no! Ironsights are one of the best elements in today's shooters. If I try playing Counterstrike these days, it boggles my mind not to be able to use the ironsights.

ZernoK is not the only one who wants them out. It bothers me that you have to ADS, reducing your speed. However, if SD keeps their promises, we should be able to use crosshairs only to kill properly.

Would it really be that hard to have an enable/disable iron sights, like FO:NV?

Anyway, back on topic, not quite something I want to change because as already stated I don't even know if it's not included, but I want the bullets to actually travel like in BFBC: 2. Because only in that game have I gotten situations where we both kill each other because of the bullet being in the space between the two of us. And I think this adds balance to a situation instead of things disappearing after you die, like in CoD.

Ahh, you mean like the bullets actually have physics, instead of immediately appearing on an enemy's hitbox. Best example of hitbox vs. physics is Gears of War (the first one, I don't know about the second). You can see a bullet instantaneously make a mark in the wall BEFORE the visible tracer hits the wall. I lol'ed when I figured that out.

I think ADS should be mandatory when you want to hit your target over range. But in CQC, crosshairs should dominate.
