If you could choose the next province of the elder scrolls g

Post » Thu Sep 16, 2010 2:23 am

But if you're going to leave out Skyrim, why the hell would you put in Morrowind and Cyrodiil? We just went to those places. Sure, a Hammerfell or Highrock revisit wouldn't be bad, but only because it's been more than 10 years since we've been there. Valenwood has no cities, so it'd be boring. Summerset Isle is supposedly Embargoing all Imperial goods, so there wouldn't be many other people there besides Altmer, and Elswyr and Black Marsh are just awful places to be. Logically, only Skyrim fits the bill.

Since when do awsome politics, beast races, desert/jungle setting, and a province that just split from the empire awful. And how is a cold an snowy landscape beat that. Better yet have you ever seen a desert landscape used in the elderscrolls.

Morrowind and Cyrodil are in there for [censored] and giggles.

Although, the more I think about it, an extremely well done rendition of Cyrodiil during the time of Maruhk and the 1,008-year-long "Cyrod as an Egg" dragon break has the potential to be fascinating. What with everyone giving birth to their own fathers, that'd make the Shivering Isles look tame. :P

Actually, all provinces succeeded from the Cyrodiilic empire.
Spoiler
The human lands will probably be more or less willing to come back (maybe with the exception of the Redguard, as we saw what happened in the 2nd era) once the empire is back on its feet. Well, relative to all other groups. Orsinium is most likely in a precarious state of affairs. The redguard have historically HATED them, and it was only recent (pre-collapse) that Wayrest and Orsinium had good relations, not to mention reincorporated in the empire after thousands of years of being absolutely despised (since the 1st era!)

The altmer of Summerset, however, have begun a vicious campaign to bring about the return of the Aldmeri Dominion by taking over Valenwood (which does have cities). In addition, merrish groups have been engaging in guerrilla warfare in Cyrodiil.

Morrowind has been nuked, then invaded by Black Marsh. Most of the dunmer have fled to Solstheim, and were most likely greated warmly by the Skaal, the nords of Thirsk, or both as hinted by MK.

Black Marsh is not likely to come back, unless brought in by force or the Hist allow it.

Elswyr is lawless, and the Mane had been assassinated.

But...a lot could happen in 200 years after Oblivion. The books only take place 40 years after, if I remember correctly.

I really hope Tamriel in TESV keeps the changes made in the books and doesn't make everything peaceful again.

According to the UESPWiki, the Bosmer do not build cities in the way that the rest of the races do, in accordance with their Green Pact, which forbids them from harming plant-life, and the Bosmer being rather inept at masonry, leaving Valenwood mostly wilderness. And the roads that were once built by the Imperial Legion have all but completely disappeared, because the Bosmer had no use for them, or shelter for that matter.

Which is why they have big organic moving cities and settlements made out of living flora. Falinesti? I want to see at least some concept work for that before the series is done.

That's not logically, that's opinionatedly. It has not been deduced by any generally accepted premises that Elsweyr or Black Marsh or Valenwood are awful places to be. Nor does it logically follow that since the Altmer pre-Oblivion Crisis were embargoing Imperial goods that we can't have a game set there in the indeterminate future after the collapse of the Septim Dynasty.

There are some people out there who might like to see a return to Morrowind, perhaps after its catastrophe or even before the War of the First Council.
Further, there may be those out there that would want a return to Cyrodiil to see the changes that have occurred since the Medes took over.
Not saying the above two are likely, but they're options.
And Morrowind and Cyrodiil are not options that are typically saturated with the most responses. Hence why they are there and Skyrim is not.

And Valenwood has no cities...? Have you seen a map of Valenwood? Have you read A Dance in Fire?

If you don't like the poll, then tough luck, I guess. It's already been explained why it is the way it is.

exactly. And i removed it because there were already tons of threads on Skyrim. We don't need to keep discussing it. If you wanna praise skyrim go to one of the many threads that are already up. This thread is just to see what province people actually want to see made into a elder scrolls game.

Now stop flaming before Rough breaks out the padlock.

What if people of Cyrodill fled to all cornes of the Empire and tried to settle in Valenwood, Black Marsh ect.? Trying to build town and the likes. Could spark a war or something...never know people at Bethseda are crafty. :ninja:

I know! The book is setting up for something major down the road. The empire may be starting to rebuild, but once it is on its feet again, it's going to try and regain those lost territories. Not to mention it is going to have to be done without the aid of the divines, some guy making love to a hillock, or a giant stompy robot.

What we got here, for the first time in Cyrodiilic history, is someone trying to rebuild the empire, but without aid of divine intervention or blessings from the divine. We have here an ex-bandit person becoming a warlord to the freaking emperor of Cyrodiil with his own hands.
Which is why they have big organic moving cities and settlements made out of living flora. Falinesti? I want to see at least some concept work for that before the series is done.

Also, the Green Pact only applied to the plantlife of Valenwood. It had been noted that the bosmer could import lumber from other places, as long as it wasn't Valenwood wood.

I'm confused. I know you wanted to know what other places people with like to be next, other than Skyrim. But this last sentence I underlined kind of muddles up everything, because I really do want to see Skyrim, but you're making it seem like no one wants to. Could just be a typo I'm over anolyzing.

One thing I do want to see is more conflict. Morrowind originally was going to have massive scale battles, but they cut back and reworked the game to a much smaller scale. Whatever they do, I would hope they can incorporate more warfare, say for example, the champion(player) must choose a side in some struggle to determine the outcome(coinciding with my desire for multiple endings).

He should play pattycake with Vivec and Talos.

Summerset Isles. I want to play in a city that is as if "made from glass or insect wings.... a hypnotic swirl of ramparts and impossibly high towers, designed to catch the light of the sun and break it to its component colors, which lies draqed across its stones until you are thankful for nightfall." I want to be spoken to in "spell-words that enchant one to a satisfied madness."

I think he's basically saying "Look, whether or not you want to see Skyrim, it's likely that it is where TESV will be set. So there's no point in voting for it if we're going there in the next game anyway."

Same, only add in a hairy nord with a big axe who is a die hard Shorish that takes the elf killing portion very seriously. No altmer is safe!

I voted Black Marsh, but really it's a tie between that and Elsweyr.

Edit: And yes, I'd want Skyrim first, then either of the two locations for the one after the next one, when technology catches up more to my imagination =P

Careful, as you get into the middle of Black Marsh, the very land is your enemy, along with the unseen enemies lurking behind the brush and water. Not to mention argonian tricksters who paralyze you into running rapids because you are either an outlander or not of their clan.

There's also the fact non-argonians tend to die of horrid poisons and diseases as they get inside the middle of the swamp. In my opinion, while the argonians were also to stop MD's forces, I doubt it was mostly because of them. Your average cultist would be chewed up and spit out from the very land, and even opening one portal may have been from sheer luck. Also, good luck to the dremora who dare to traverse the swamps of Black Marsh without MD to cut down some trees, they are going to be eaten alive, literally.

I like the Argonian Account, it really shows you what a hell hole Black Marsh really is. Hell, even Tiber Septim didn't really invade. He pretty much just sent a letter asking if they'd like to join.
